If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone had a Tech pkg windshield replaced?

We took a rock to the windshield almost a month ago and haven't been able to get the correct windshield from Hyundai yet. They keep sending the part number they say is correct, but it doesn't have the correct configuration for the rain sensor.

The windshield repair facility, the dealer ordering the part and I are all fit to be tied! If anyone has had a successful Tech windshield replacement, could you please let me know the part number you received? TIA.

I have not had the need to replace a windshield but my service experience so far from genesis vehicle service is inadequate parts distribution or availability.

This is an area that Hyundai will need to vastly improve before becoming a valid contender in the luxury car market.

IMHO, The service experience one has will determine possible repeat future buyers of a Hyundai luxury vehicle.

You're reading my mind! :)

If this was my first experience with Hyundai's lackluster service philosophy I might write it off to bad luck, but it's looking like a little more than that.

What they don't realize is that by not committing to a high level of customer satisfaction re: service and service delivery, they're sabotaging any possibility of Hyundai permanently rising into the ranks of the highly reputed brands. Saving a few bucks here will cost them much more in the future. I know I'm about at the point where I won't recommend them to my friends based on my recent experiences unless there are drastic changes during the rest of my ownership. I love the car, but I hate the service, so far.

A beautifully designed car delivered at an attractive price, without a service delivery system that an owner can count on, will not make people stay loyal to the brand.

This issue must be dealer dependent. I have been driving Hyundai for 5 years now (06 Azera and 2010 Genesis). The few issues I have had have been taken care of quickly and efficiently. The finish on my Azera's steering wheel began to chip and delaminate after about a year - the dealer replaced it quickly at no charge (invoice showed part cost of $1200). There was an early problem with my Genesis' transmission - again the dealer replaced it quickly, with no questions asked, and provided a loaner while the car was being worked on. I use Ourisman Hyundai in Laurel, MD, and other owners I have talked with, regardless of Hyundai model, have been more than satisfied with their service. Maybe other dealers should look to them to see how it should be done.:D

IMHO, you're 100% correct, but that's only 50% of the problem. My dealer has been very cooperative, but the time it takes to get parts and the inability, at times, to get a CORRECT part are problems that Hyundai is directly to blame for.

Nice to hear of a positive experience as well and I haven't given up on Hyundai. YET!

In my 44 years of marriage I have owned many cars. My wife recently observed and told me she had never seem me so excited over a new vehicle as I am of the Genesis.

I had mine done about 3-4 weeks in after buying the car, but not at the dealership, but via Safelite. Has the rain sensor and sound lamination also. Cost was $515 installed and the rain sensor works just fine.

That's what we've been trying to get. Is there any way for you to provide the glass part number for me? TIA.

FW02987GBYNMF, list $762, installed price $515.

I believe the B is a B, above, but if not try an 8.

Hyundai parts distribution seems to be a mess. About 1 year ago I went to a dealer to purchase an oil filter for my Genesis V6. After about 5 minutes looking at the computer, the parts guy went to the back and came up with a traditional metal oil filter (not the cartridge type that the Genesis uses). I told the parts guy that the correct oil filter was a cartridge type. After about another 5 minutes of discussion (me insisting the correct part was a cartridge filter), he went in the back again and came up with a cartridge filter, and I bought two of them. When I went home and started to change the oil, and removed the old filter, it was obvious that he had sold me the wrong cartridge filter.

Assuming that is a Hyundai number, it's totally different from the number we have. I'll pass it on to see if it means anything to the parts desk. Thanx.

I agree - I've had many cars, too, and this is the most enjoyable one I can remember. That's what makes the service disappointments even worse.

On the bright side, I complained to Hyundai Consumer Affairs a few days ago and they have already responded and talked to the dealer re: my problem there. That's promising and props to them for the speedy response. :)

That is a Safelite number for a Safelite piece of glass.

It's been my understanding that no one but Hyundai was making glass yet for the Genesis. I'll have to check into that. Thanx.

Yes, it took a little time to finde... they said the price is still high as very few are being made, as the car is still pretty new.

Who was the manufacturer of the replacement glass? What was the part number if it was made by Hyundai? I (and two dealers) am looking for the correct part number for an original Hyundai windshield with the extra laminate and the rain sensor feature. TIA.

choke!!!!!!

Yeah... and that was the least expensive. I had three other bids, ranging from $890 (dealership and one vendor) to $1400+...

absolutely crazy
