  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi I own a 2018 g80 sport and I love the car except for the tires. At approximately 2000 miles I had to replace 2 tires due to bubbles on the side wall. I had to pay around $700.00 now at 11,000 miles I am having to replace another 2 tires. After speaking to several tire experts they have informed me that this will continue because of the size of the rim and that it is a low profile tire. I believe Genesis should look at this and reevaluate what they are putting on these cars. I was told they only possible fix is to go to an 17 or 18" rim. I don't want to spend a lot on a car and then have to spend around $700.00 a year on tires. I have owned cars my entire life and have never had issues like this. Genesis has not helped in anyway on the cost and inconvenience on these tires. Going through 4 tires in 11,000 and $1400.00 is just not right. Has anyone else had these issues?

That doesn’t sound right. Tires defects at 2000 miles should be under warranty and need to be replaced at not cost to you. Neither Is true what the experts are saying about the rims, if that were the case all Genesis G80 would have the same problem. Why don't you post this in the G80 forum?, for sure you will get more information there.

They said tires were not covered. I will post it there also. It could be that I live in the northeast and we have rougher roads but it is definitely true.

I had bubble in my front driver side Micheline tire after I hit pothole. I went back to Costco and they installed new tire at prorated price.
I don't think Genesis is responsible for the bubble after you hit pothole.

1. tire warranty is not handled by Genesis, but by the tire manufacturer, read the warranty paperwork that came with your car, it is spelled out completely.

2. bubbles as the result of road damage are not covered, that is on you, if you choose not to get road hazard coverage on the replacements, that is on you as well. it is the price/cost of ownership. Avoid pot-holes and bad roads.

3. if the bubbles were a result of a defect, then the tire manufacturer will replace the tires and prorate them based on mileage, you MUST contact the tire manufacturer for this, again clearly stated in your warranty paperwork.

4. I have had this exact same tire and wheel size setup on my last 4 vehicles. EXACT same setup, a very common setup for "sport" version vehicles, and I have never experienced any issues with the tires other than IMO pre-mature wear because of summer tires that were provided on my Camaro and RCF, those are low mileage soft tires that are no good for daily driving, 15k-18K and they were bald.

@ 12K miles my wife's 2017 Camry hybrid blew out both rear tires on the same day, completely shredded, POS Bridgestone garbage tires, Bridgestone offered us $66 for each tire on the prorate ONLY if we replaced with Bridgestone's. Her tires are 17" 60 series all season tires, lots of sidewall. very "bouncy" tires.

I refused the prorate, I don't like Firestone/Bridgestone tires I have seen many in my years shred like my wife's did, I opted to replace them with BF Goodrich tires with a 60K warranty and full road hazard coverage from Allen Tire Co.

Good move. Firestones are mostly junk
