  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Unlike the G80 and GV80, looks like this is unavailable on the GV60. Anyone know different?

GV80 does not have a built in dashcam.

This shows that it's available:

Unfortunately it appears this is in Korea. Looks like it's available on GV60's in Korea too. Disappointing given that Mercedes and BMW are starting to offer it on more model lines in the U.S. The tech seems to be in place. Looks like it works off the 360 degree cameras.

which part of the world?
This forum is a worldwide forum, be a bit specific would be great for others.

Who are you asking?

It would, at least, be nice to know if there is an adapter cable that connects into the rear view mirror housing. Far simpler to set one up from there.

Been thinking of how to connect a 2ch cam. The g70 had a fuse panel in the trunk so it was easy to hardwire the battery pack to it.

The gv60 doesn't have the same trunk panel. The trunk does have a 12v cigarette lighter plug but it would stick out like a sore thumb.

If you install one would strongly suggest it be easily removeable in case you have an electrical problem the dealer could blame on the dashcam. Or perhaps have the dealer install it at their inflated labor prices :-)

I just ported over my 2-channel dashcam from my prior car. Its fairly easy. There is a fuse panel easily accessible on the driver's side dash. For the most part, you can easily run the wires through the seal along the headliner.

I don't think a dealer install will help a warranty claim at all. A hardwiring kit doesn't leave much to go wrong. If something fails, you may drain the battery, or possibly blow a fuse, but the chance of any real concerns are negligible.

Agree it's unlikely a hardwired dashcam would ACTUALLY cause a problem. I'm more concerned that if the car has an electrical problem even remotely related, it opens the door to the dealer trying to blame the problem on the owner. Ask me how I know :) Remember that dealers make far more on retail work and parts versus warranty jobs. so they often have a vested interest in denying a warranty claim. While some might take the position the dealer would need to prove the installation caused the problem, who wants to get into a fight with the dealer over such a scenario? The risk can be avoided by just removing the installation before making a warranty claim that might be deemed to be related. Or alternatively let the dealer do the installation so he can only point the finger at himself.

Agree, it is a risk. Over the years, I’ve had dealers grasp at a bunch of strange things to try and place blame on the owner.

This is the first hatch I’ve driven with a rear dashcam. The cable needs some slack to accommodate an open hutch, but it dangles when closed and is an eyesore. I need some sort of elastic that would pull it against the panel when closed.
Does anyone know of some way to make this happen?

Good point. Never occurred to me that the hatch going up would tug/relax the cable. Gonna have to really think about how to do this nicely!

I think one would need an elastic of some sort that could expand to multiple times its original size, yet just gently tug when stretched. It could be taped the the camera one one end and the cable at another. I just don’t know if such a thing exists.

It's a little ridiculous I can't record using the built-in dashcam on my GV80. Thought it was the app being in Korean that was the problem but it's my understanding the Korean models also have an extra USB port specifically for the dashcam's flash drive. Oh well..

The installer used a mount and mounted my rear camera under the trim souround at the back. So, my camera is stationary and no slack is needed in the cable. I like how mine was mounted. No cable hanging down.

Can you please post a picture of the mounting location …thanks
