  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone ever removed the front bumper of the genesis sedan? I removed the two side bolts but the bumper still wouldn't come off. What are the steps to removing the bumper?

You could try this:

Seems to loosen it right up..

Sorry...couldn't help myself....Happy Holidays!

I wrote this is a hurry but all of the steps are still here.

To remove the bumper you need to:
1. remove all of the retaining clips underneath the bumper attaching it to the skip plate and wheel well liner (not the retaining clips inside the wheel well
2. remove the plastic shroud under the hood. it is held on by 8-10 clips and 2 10mm bolts
3. remove the two screws in the wheel well (1 in each)
4. remove two bolts holding in headlight assembly
5. remove headlight by pushing from the back and wiggling it out the front (although removing the headlight housings isn't required, it makes it a LOT easier)
6. open up the tabs where the bottom of the headlight assembly rested on the bumper
7. start pulling the bumper back starting at the wheel wells (you will notice the tabs coming out of the slots)
DO NOT TAKE THE BUMPER OFF COMPLETELY YET
8. reach down and disconnect the fog lights as there is not enough wire for the bumper to be removed with them attached
9. once the fogs lights are disconnected you can continue to pull the bumper completely off

nothing should require alot of force so try not to break anything :). If you have any questions just let me know. I'll probably do an in depth tutorial next week as this topic is being discussed more and more often on the forums

if you need pictures, the process is very similar with the genesis coupe... http://www.Genesis Coupe.com/diy-do-yourself/18414-diy-front-bumper-removal-importshark.html

Thaks marxmar04,

for whatever reason, the socket for my headlight fried and the dealer wants $640 to replace the whole unit.

Any reason why you can't replace the socket pigtail for the headlight itself? Seems a little silly to replace a whole housing when a $10.00 pigtail is needed.
