  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can you step on the brakes and manually upshift to 2nd gear and then launch?

I could...but that would be even worse no? It would take even longer to get “going” I would think.

Perhaps, but why? Are you planning to launch in the snow? The higher gear would really hurt off the line acceleration.

TCU logic might be trying to protect 1st gear so maybe you can bypass with 2nd gear.
Btw most cars starts out with 2nd gear so the shifting is smooth. It only kicks down to 1st gear when you stomp on the gas.

Planning on using HFC's on both down and mids. What about an over boost CEL?

I'm not sure. LAP3 and Tork Motorsports have both done ECU tunes for cars with stock cats deleted. I haven't followed them too closely though.

What he means is that when you are using launch control, it doesn't allow much boost to build during power braking. It seems it will, at most, let you rev up to 2500 RPM while power braking, and when you launch there is like a split second of hesitation before it really starts to go.

Other launch control software in other cars launches HARD. The G70 and Stinger, not so much. It's a big disappointment. Kind of just feels better to floor it from a standstill w/out even power braking.

Hopefully the aftermarket will solve this.

I'm sure that 10 year power train warranty is the reason behind this. I'd live to see a TCU tune that allowed for 3500ish, though. Of course traction would become an even bigger issue.

So far from what I've read it sounds like both the JB4 and LAP3 piggybacks *should* be able to negate the overboost codes, but like you I haven't found anyone specifically stating they've successfully done the full exhaust without any codes.. I emailed BMS to see if they had any input. Got my fingers crossed.

Update - got some responses back from BMS regarding down pipes. He (Ando) says that the JB4 will not prevent any emissions related check engine light codes. However, he said that a full exhaust (ie downpipes, midpipes, and cat-back),as long as it has catalytic converters (gonna be using high-flow), shouldn't throw any codes if using the JB4.

That said, barring any reasonable big turbo kits suddenly becoming available in the next few months, I'm tentatively planning on going this route. Combined with a good intake, and bigger IC, and water injection. We'll see how much power we get.

When will it be available for the 2.0t?

I wonder what is the effect on the 2.0.

Thank you. Do we have any data on the improvement on the 2.0?
No Dyno numbers for the 2.0t but Map1 should be good for around 290-300hp and Map2 probably up to 310hp. Torque bump will probably be a little more significant.
1psi = ~10whp

I would also like to see some dyno results for the 2.0t JB4...or even some owner reviews?

Ditto here - just bought (and received) the JB4. I don’t know how to tell if the fuel wires are integrated or not... anyone know how to determine this, or do I have to open the box and check wiring?

I purchased the Denso plugs from Burger Tuning also, so I’ll gap those and have them at the ready for the 600 mile oil change where I’ll change the plugs also.

I heard that it's better to gap the stock plugs. The aftermarket plugs can throw codes.

Also do you have the 3.3 or the 2.0?

I’ve got the 3.3.

One of the guys at the dealer I bought my G70 from drove a G80 Sport with the 3.3T. This is out where it’s REALLY hot in the summer (Palm Springs area), and he cracked one of his stock spark plugs. I’m on the coastal area of the state, so cooler... but do drive to where it can be toasty warm. I’m just hoping to avoid any issues.

Colder plugs are definitely good insurance, especially when increasing the boost.
