  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I've had my new 2015 Genesis for 3 weeks today, and absolutely love the car. Some would argue I have an addiction to cars, as I've had 38 since 2004. If you've read any of my previous posts I'm all about finding the deal of all deals, driving for 10-12k miles, then selling/trading and breaking even or close to. In other word, I never roll negative equity, and my payoff is always less than the vehicles value.

The title of this thread pertains more to all of the various issues that people mention on their specific vehicles. Does anyone else constantly listen for creaks or rattles from their panoramic roof just because it has been beat to death on the forum? Or how about focusing additional attention on the steering wheel, "looking" for vibrations because it is a constant "top of the forum" topic?

Am I the only one looking for specefic issues versus focusing on my enjoyment of the vehicle? I'm sure there are others out there.....who are you? The simple answer would be to not read the forum...but that won't happen. I enjoy learning about my vehicles, as well as the inside info on pricing trends so I can look for my next flip.

1700 miles in and no rattles, no vibrations, and it's been an absolutely perfect vehicle. "knock on wood".....

I normally have the stereo turned up loud enough that I don't hear anything. That being said I have turned it off just to listen for stuff in this car, because of all these posts!

You do hear the things rubbing, moving as the car hits big bumps...making large dynamic changes. I think I may have some small rattle or noise from the moon roof when the shade is open.

But compared to other vehicles I have owned I think these sounds are more noticeable because the rest of the car is so stinking quiet. I just came from a Toyota Tundra, where the ride was so bumpy I could hardly hit the touchscreen radio when going down the freeway.

I am sure that anything too obnoxious I can get fixed by the dealer. But overall, this car is stupid quiet.

I had a vibration in the front end that I would have noticed even without reading this forum. But knowing about the tire recall and possible issues armed me with more knowledge when I went in to get it fixed. I am glad we have forums like this and people willing to share their knowledge and experiences. It makes all of us better consumers and spokesmen for the brand.

I haven't really listened to the car i always listen the radio.. Ive had the car 8 days and feels like i'm in a futuristic car lol.... I have 2,093 on the car and have a slight vibration with conti tires... My theory is the tires need to be balanced because i'm sure there not perfect coming from factory. I'm coming from a 2012 Kia Optima SX and the ride was super stiff, wind noise, and road noise.. So i'm enjoying this car for what it is.. A soft ride and power when i need it...

So far no pano roof rattle for me.

Regarding the vibration.... there can be multiple causes, but one is pretty normal.... Flat spotting is common to some degree on low profile/high performance tires. I discovered this on my '13 Azera. A little vibration until the tires were driven a couple of miles. After that smooth as silk. I drove a '16 Azera for a bit while I had some service on the Genesis, and it was the same.

Now for my Genesis.. I had a vibration when I picked it up that did not go away. The Dealer did a road force balance, that made it a lot better, but not perfect. I put about 2500 miles on the tires, and again, it was much improved, but still had a slight vibration.

Had my first oil change, and they came to the conclusion that the tires had belt shift issue. They were replaced with the same Michelin MXM4s.

So... same flat spot issue until warmed up... (normal), but so far smooth once I have driven a few miles. I was hoping to get some freeway in today, but I ended up on side roads today so I really could not get any time over 65 MPH. I think my issue is solved, but I will need to get a bit of highway time to be certain.

Bottom line, I suspect that when Hyundai moved off the Hankook Ventus S1 Noble 2 tires, they needed a bunch of Michelins fast, and they may have received more than a few that were not up to snuff.

My suggestion is that you can't get too worked up about problems that are reported in a forum. Keep in mind that most owners of just about any car don't bother with posting on forums unless they have issues or questions.

If you hear rattles, ask you dealer to solve them. Most users are rattle free, even on the pano roof, but admittedly, there are some that have that problem.

Regarding the vibration...... keep in mind that flat spotting is common, and should go away after a few miles. If you have vibrations beyond that, get it checked out. Looking at the poll, users with issues that persist after swapped tires or other repairs are in the minority. Most have had no issues, or have had the problem solved.

I have had my 2015 for 14 months with zero defects or noise/rattles.

But, I don't ever plan to use the sunroof because:

1. I have no use for it.

2. It's an item that will inevitably cause problems at some future time.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I have 26k now on my 15 v6 Ultimate and no issues other than recalls. I sometimes hear the pano make noise over bumps but normally when it is cold. A car is going to flex not matter how strong you make it when 90% of the roof is glass.

Have had my 2016 for one month tomorrow. Just returned from our first "Road Trip" to the Southwest, and 3,800 miles. No issues at all! I love my 16 Genesis. I have the sunshade open all the time. Have opened the Paranoia several times without an issue. One of the main reasons I got the Genesis is because it is so quiet. Not at all disappointed to date. The 16 came with the Michelin Primacy. On one occasion when the night was very cold I experienced "Flat Spotting" for a couple of miles. I have the same issue on my Toyota Highlander with Michelin's for the last 8 years. It lasts for about 3 minutes on a cold morning. I am listening all the time for any kind of noises. Very quiet for its first 5,000 miles

Taking a forum at face value will make anything seem like the lemon from hell. Forums naturally attract folks who have problems because they are looking for a solution. Just remember that for every person with a problem here there are thousands of owners happily driving their car instead of poking at their keyboard.

Forums are a base of information only. It is used to see if anyone else is having the same issues and what was done to fix it and what works best for others. For example, If anyone read my post "Prices for 2015" you will see that on that post i added that i had bought my wife a 2015 Base model. With that base model i started experiencing thing that i didn't have to experience with the signature. The steering wheel will vibrate when braking, and i noticed an irregular "bouncing" in the suspension. Took it in to get inspected and the Rotors were worpped and there was a leak in one of the struts. Had i not had some insight on what to expect i might have listen to the "Advisor" say " that is normal" and maybe get away with it. luckily i have a very good service advisor and they always take care of me

38 cars in 12 years. Indicates you are a Car Person, so you must have read other car forums. As the two previous posters noted, you'll find a disproportionate number of complaints in them.
Relax and enjoy your car!

This.

It is a phenomenon on all internet forums from econo cars to six figure German cars. Add up all who visit here with a problem and divide that into all Genesis vehicles purchased to date. Using that math, the car is virtually flawless.

Lantana, after 20k miles....no creaks or rattles from anywhere......and being in Florida, I have the roof and all windows open every day.......and its nor because I have them open all the time and couldn't otherwise hear it..😜....enjoy your Wednesday car......

Over 24k miles and no rattles here. Love the car...

Well....knocking on wood didn't help. At 1561 miles on the clock, the dreaded sunroof rattle was happening like crazy on my drive home from meetings today. Closing the liner did very little to dampen the sound.

It goes in on Wednesday. Dealer says they have been re-aligning the tracks on most, and requiring replacement on others.

I find this quite amusing given the timing of my original post.

I wish there was an option to delete the sunroof - I never open mine, so it's just an extra source of potential issues and rattles with no value for me. I custom ordered three cars in the past, all without a sunroof. Apparently now it's impossible to get anything without a sunroof anymore, unless you go for a Base version.

Funny enough, everyone that's been in my car so far has commented on how they love the huge panoramic roof, so I am certainly a minority when it comes to sunroof preference!

In general, I refer to sunroofs as leaks waiting to happen. However, I (and more so my back seat passengers) love the panoramic roof. Mine has a few minor squeaks, but for me it is a definite positive.

A sunroof is bad enough, but those oversized panoramic roofs? ughh

Wish that there was an option to get the higher level stuff w/o the panoramic.

This is my 3rd sunroofed car, never had a problem. Love the extra light when it is closed, and on a nice summer day with everything open it's almost like a convertible.

Actually, for the size of the roof, the opening is quite small - not even remotely like a convertible! For front seaters, the opening is mostly behind you...
