  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey everyone,

I am looking to get into a new 2022 G70. Working with my local dealer it has become apparent that there are very limited options for colors right now. In order to keep the high trade in value I was offered I have to make a deal within the next few weeks.

That being said the only available color combinations are as follows:

Adriatic Blue with a Red interior
Siberian Ice with Black interior and red stitching
White with Red interior

I am pretty against a red interior from the photos I have seen. Wondering if anyone with one can share their thoughts, especially over time. It seems very bright to me and kind of distracting.

Regarding the Siberian Ice, from what I have seen this is a white with a blue tint. Anyone have any photos or feelings about the color after some time?

The other option is the Himalayan Grey with a black interior but it is a demo with at least 1,000 KM's and no price discount. Not sure how people taking it for test drives would have treated it. Is it a good idea to consider it?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Color is a personal thing for sure. I love red interiors in general (own an s2000 with red interior) but I think they did a little too much of the interior in red. I'd prefer to have the black interior of those options. I've seen the siberian ice and test drove one. It's an interesting color that almost looks a little different every time you glance at the car.

Regarding the demo I'm sure some people got on the gas. That wouldn't bother me if the engine was fully warmed up...trouble is many people can't be bothered to wait for it to be warmed up, particularly on a short test drive. The car may not produce full boost until it's warmed up so it may not be an issue. I know my EGT sure felt like it wasn't getting full boost when cold. I can't say whether that's the case on my 3.3TT as I wait until it's warmed up and it already has so much power that you can't tell when taking it easy. With such a long warranty I don't think it'd be a terrible decision to get a demo if the numbers make sense. I'd sure want some sort of discount compared to a zero mile car.

Just last month I purchased a 2021 demo that the owner of the dealership drove for a few months. It had 2,000 miles on it and I was able to get it for $6,000 off of MSRP. It was never titled, so was sold as new to me with full warranty and 3 year included maintenance. Now granted you're looking at a 2022, so I'd expect less of a discount - but I would bet you could get some sort of discount.

If you're against the red interior, there's really only 2 options. Color is always a personal preference, but for me red is a helluva commitment that I'm not sure I can stick with for a daily.

Siberian Ice is a weird color. It's not a bad color and you're spot on about the white with blueish tint. It looks kind of murky, that's the best way I can describe the color.

1000 kms is not much. Most Hyundai dealers do swaps in a 200 km radius, sometimes 500 if it's a harder vehicle to source. And they are usually driven those miles to get the destination.

Try for but don't expect a discount in this market. Best advice I could say is if you do go with the demo, go over the paint really meticulously. Often with demos, there is a rock chip or something from the highway. Once you drive it off the lot, that chip is your problem.

I wouldn't be concerned at all buying a G70 with 1000KM's on it. The car is over the top programmed to protect itself.

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the late reply. Busy day at work. Thanks for all the advice. My only concern was really not respecting the break in period. Not sure if that could potentially have any residual issues down the line.

Opinions vary greatly on break-in. I personally don't bother with them but I do make sure the engine is properly warmed up (which actually means oil is up to temp, not just coolant up to temp) before running an engine hard. The G70 does have a screen in the instrument cluster that displays oil temp.

For sure, hard to know how random people taking it for test drives treated it. I am waiting on a call back to see if they will move on price. As of yesterday they did not want to discount the demo which just leaves me with Siberian Ice. Not thrilled about that color but maybe someone can change my mind.

It's a lot of money. If you're not sure about the color don't take it.

There isn't really a break in period anymore. Car needs to go through a PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection). It's basically a systems check and 10 mile drive that the technicians perform before they release the car. Once that is done, you can rip on the car as much as you want. Can honestly do it before then also. Good luck on securing it, shoukd be a nice car!

I'm stating this from extremely intimate knowledge of Hyundai/Genesis products. I don't really want to say more, as I'm sure you'll understand. 😊

^ that’s simply not true. Do your car a favor and give it 1k miles to settle in. Use the paddle shifters to try to run in various RPM’s...not going to high.

Update for everyone. After reading many threads I decided on the Siberian Ice. I like it currently but hopefully I fall in love with it once I own it. Now comes the waiting for it to arrive from Vancouver.

Looking forward to being part of the Genesis family.

Oh yeah you will. Stunning color...trust me. Double looks, plenty of thumbs up...and in person comments!!!
