  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I recently had my Genesis sedan (2010) serviced, and the manager said: "We need to talk about new tires the next time you come in." WTF; the car does not have 20,000 on it and the tires are going bad? Are those OEM tires that bad? I live in Naples, FL and can state that this place is about as easy on tires as it gets. Also, I'm not into drag racing. WTF?

Sure, I had ALL the recommended services including tire rotations and a
wheel alignment.

I will be returning the Gennie in April, as the lease is up. My first and
last Hyundai product. This thing with the tires put the last nail in the
coffin for me. Bye Bye Hyundai!

Also, no service possible when the dealer cannot verify/replicate the problem. Bull-Puckey ... the driver's seat position issue is documented on the Internet and I cannot get my dealer to "deal" with it.

Hyundai didn't make the tires, genius

The price you pay for ignoring tire pressure, it would seem. ????

Perhaps the ashtrays were full too, though.

The OE Dunflop tires have been documented many times on this forum. I got just under 18, 000 miles on mine. The Dunlops are ranked dead last in most test on tirerack.com. I have stated before on this forum that I cannot understand why Goodyear would make such a terrible tire (Dunlop brand is mfg by Goodyear). So I guess you are saying bye bye to Goodyear also and any car that has a Goodyear brand

Note that the OP won't be saying bye bye till April (10 months). Oy!

BTW - I winter in Naples (Jan and Feb)......What's your favorite seafood restaurant down there?

I drive my 2011 Genesis down there from Minneapolis. I have not had 1 problem with mine yet. So far it's the best car I've ever owned. On par with my 99 Lexus GS300. I did get rid of the Dunlop Tires the first month or so. I wanted a little better tire in the snow.

I hope the Michelins on my '12 last longer than that, or I'll be highly irritated...

Sorry to hear about your issues. I think I got 26k out of the Dunlops, but for the most part the are pretty poor tires. I replaced those with some P-Zero Nero all season tires and the ride and handling did improve. So far I am on my 2nd Genesis without ever having any issues so I guess your mileage may very.

My R Spec came with the P Zero tires.

I had Pontiac G8 that came with Goodyear RSA's. They lasted about 24K miles. But I didn't get rid of the car because of the tires. But I did get rid of it when GM wouldn't stand behind the car and the issues with the motor.

I managed a company back in the 70s. The most convenent tire dealer and a friend owned a Goodyear store. I operated a fleet of 3/4 ton trucks. I finally went to Michelin. I had tire trouble every day with Goodyear. No more tire problems. It may sound crazy but the thing that sold me on the 3.8 upgrade was the Michelin tires. I never buy anything but Michelin. I have a Toyota Tundra truck with 20 inch wheels. It took me 3 weeks to get Mitchelins and cost me through the nose. I expect sooner or later Michelin quality will deteriate, most products do. I won't change until I get some bad ones though. Even with Michelins there are tradeoffs between performance and mileage though.

You can't go wrong with the grouper and chips place on 41 near downtown if you like a fry-up.

Do I really understand this correctly? Your tires wore out too fast and you will refuse to buy another Hyundai? Got news for you as all higher performance tires suck bog time milage wise as they are made from softer compounds to get better grip. For a high performance tire 20,000 miles is not bad IMHO.

This guy has lingered here complaining about this and that for a couple of years. A while ago he posted that he was leaving and not coming back because he was being disrespected. His car must have been performing acceptably and he has had nothing to complain about until now. Pay no attention and just let him vent.

As said before the Dunlops that come stock are horrible, but not hyundai fault . I mean that like saying you hate a car because of the radio stations it has programmed. I'm sure there isn't just one hyundai dealer around you so just go to a other one.

Snow? What is snow? It hit 95 today. Bonefish seafood is great! There are many really good seafood restaurants here, but some are overpriced.

And HEY, to some of the nasty folks here, I have repeatedly posted here and other places that I LOVE driving my Genny. No kidding. But have had some issues that one should not have to put up with and was lied to several times by my dealership. Also, had a scheduled meeting with a Hyundai factory rep which was a no-show, So, I'll stick with Bye Bye.

Why just not go back to the dealer and tell him everybody knows the Dunlops are junk and he needs to throw you a good deal on a set of Michelins if he ever wants your car buying/leasing business again!

By now this thread is old enough and the OP knows for sure that all OEM tires coming with MSRP dealer cars are trash..

It's about money. They're only good up to the point of warranty, some times, and that's really it. You want your car to have tires that last a while like everyone else, pick out some really good ones for the car you've got your eye on before you buy it, save up if they cost a bit, and when you do so (buy the car), get those bad boys slapped on.

Everyone knows dealership stock tires are garbage, no matter what the tire, car, make/model you get is.. there's always the better more ideal option that the car didn't come with.
RULE OF THUMB

I put Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position summers on my Genny to replace the Conti Pro's that I didn't like at all. When summer is over, I will change back to all season tires, however, I do NOT drive my Genny in snow or any bad road conditions at anytime, I have a Kia Sorento with AWD for that. BTW, love Hyundai, been driving them since 2000, never had anything other than a plug & a plug wire go bad on any of them.:p
