Can’t manually downshift with paddles or the shifter?

Hi I’m new here! I tried searching for this topic but haven’t been successful so my apologies if this is already known... but is there some type of lock or a setting to enable to allow you to manually downshift with the paddles and the shifter?

I put my 2016 3.8 sedan into manual shift mode and I can upshift just fine but it will not accept my downshifts with paddles or if I use the center shifter.

I tried looking into the settings in my dash menus (And dash media console just in case) but no luck. I bought the car cpo but it doesn’t have a manual.

If anyone could help - or if it’s something I have to get them to fix - I would really appreciate any input. Thank you!

No secret settings. Move the lever to the left if you want to use it and bum in the direction desired. If you want to use the paddle, just pull it towards you. Only reason it should not downshift is if the RPM is already too high to drop a gear.

Have you tried downshifting to slow down? Foot off the gas you should be able to drop a gear or two. If not you have some problem in the controls.

Do you downshift a lot? I had the left paddle replaced on my YF Turbo 3 times because I was constantly using it. The switches are not the best. I was downshifting to slow down all the time because I was coming from a manual car. I barely use it on the Genesis though... with 8 speeds, I have to downshift like 3 gears before the car starts slowing.

Thanks, confirmed that something is wrong with it as I just cannot downshift with the paddles or shifter. Taking it in later this week to get looked at and fixed under warranty.
