  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I recently test drove a G70 at a local Hyundai/Genesis dealership. I liked the car but decided not to buy it largely based on the experience in the dealership. I felt like I was buying a Hyundai. The sales person didn't know a lot about the car and I got the typical volume car dealer tag team match with several "Sales Managers" all trying to convince me to buy now. Based on this and several posts on this forum I was also concerned about the service experience after I purchased the car. If Genesis improves the dealership buying and service experience, I will be back for a car.

Won't happen overnight but there are some very good dealers among the riff-raff. If you are serious try another. Give your location and perhaps someone here can recommend one. A few months back they did hire a new guy to head up the dealers

Wait...are you buying a Hyundai? Are you dating the salesperson? Can you utilize the valet service?

Kills me when people pass up on probably the best car out there for...well...whatever.

I liked my dealer -- but, I also rarely see the dealer. I bought one because of the car. My Lexus dealership experience was less than sparkling--so the local Genesis dealer easily beat that.

I was almost about to write off the G70 (see the leasing thread) because of the terrible dealership experience, but after driving a few other cars (M340i, S4) that were an additional $15k (and still missing some of the G70's features) I just can't ignore not only the value of the G70, but the fact that I'd probably buy it over the ones I drove even if they were the same price.

My plan is this... I'm not going to try to do anything remotely anymore, I'm going to wait for my local Genesis dealer to get in a G70 that is close to my preferences (3.3T Sport, Mallorca Blue, Gray Seat Stitching), go in there without any small talk, present them with an offer on a piece of paper and walk if they don't agree to it. No more BS back and forth, no more "advice" on leasing vs buying, just a simple get in/get out transaction. My Golf is paid off, I've got all the time in the world, so I'm just going to learn some patience and wait for the best deal.

Assuming your price is fair, it can be done. I did pretty much the same thing a couple of times and drove out in a new car. I also walked out of a couple of dealers too.

When I bought my 2015 I had a price from a dealer through Truecar.com. It was a good price but for a color I did not want, only Ultimate they had. I went to another dealer, took a test drive and went back to the showroom. Salesman offer me a little discount. I pulled out my phone with the TrueCar email. Took three minutes to get it approved.

48000 (without lease incentives) on a RWD model. I do not think a 5% discount is much to ask for, especially since some of these cars have been sitting on the lot since the summer.

Stop by your local dealer and see if they will request a vehicle matching your specs in their next allocation. They also may be able to do a dealer trade. Do some searching through the leasing and pricing threads to learn about the Circle A pricing. I think @r_spec is still providing Circle A certificates to those who PM him. The Circle A price will be around $47.4k and we have seen that some dealers have matched, or even beaten, that price without the buyer having to get the certificate.

I've seen Circle A referenced on this forum, but I figured it wouldn't apply, since my employer doesn't offer it. Honestly, if it's as simple as a PM, I might as well just use that and call it a day. Thanks for the input; sorry for hijacking this thread!

Now, there's just a matter of getting my post count up enough to PM him, haha.
