  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can Genesis locate my 2018 Genesis G80 if it's stolen?

I'm trying to decide if I need to hide an Airtag in my car, or can Genesis dealer find it using its navigation system (or some other device)? Thanks,

Russ

Only way they can locate it is to drive down the street and spot it. Buy the air tag.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
You realize that to work the AirTag must be close to a Bluetooth-enabled Apple device to detect it and send an encrypted signal to the network.

Yes, I realize that. Thanks for pointing that out. However, there are a lot of iphones in the world and many of them are operating with their Bluetooth enabled. All it takes are a few and if stolen, cars are likely to be in or near populated areas containing many such phones..

If the thief has an iPhone, it will warn him that a nearby airtag is tracking him.
There are also aftermarket alarms that can give you a more direct means of tracking the car, as well as remote start and other features.

Didn't know that, joegr. Good point! But, there are numerous places to conceal an Airtag and the thief is only going to have a few hours (or next to no time if I'm carjacked) before I'll have located him. I don't think he's likely to find it before I find the car.

Maybe I am missing something here, but can't use the Genesis app on your phone or the My Genesis web site to locate your car as long as you're up to date on your subscription? Or maybe you have the 3G that is not not working?

Is lojack still in business?

Fair enough. I was assuming 2018 with the 9.2" display which would be 3G only, so no hope. On the other hand, if he has the 8" display, connected services would still be an option.

Yes, I read that article. Coming frou an Audi, it fits in with their philosophy. But reading further into the it is their policy to give police the info. Somehow, the idiot on the phone an idiot.
