If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I want to take our 2014 R-Spec to the drags and asking if I can just simply remove the ESC fuse to disable the traction control? If so what fuse is it? I just want to go run it down the track a couple of times to see what I can get out of it

Yes you can. It's in the passenger side fuse box under the hood. Though warranty issues MAY or may not arise.

It's a small red 10a fuse. It's clearly marked on the inside of the lid of the fuse box.

Warranty issues???? Like a check engine light that needs to be turned off by the dealer or something like that?

I am not sure if the 14 has the same trick that works as the earlier models but start the car remove the fuse go to the esc button and press it (wait till all the lights on the dash light up, abs, epb, etc.) then go back and put the fuse in.

You will get full trac control turned off and keep the car from throwing codes.

No as in the CPU stores fuse faults. And may or may not store whether the fuse was pulled. If something were to ever go wrong and they decided to dig around your CPU there is potential that they could not cover any problem under warranty.
Likely hood is slim. But I've heard of this happening in other makes and models.
Mitsubishi did it with the evolution at one point. Searching the CPU history for evidence of autocrossing, racing and or rallying of the car and voiding warranty.

Ok well I will test it tonight. I could run it with the fuse in but if those tires start to spin that car just falls on its face when the computer pulls power. I just want to get like 3 runs in or so. If I run it I will post my times and feed back.

Yeah you'll need esc off. I can't pull out of a parking lot aggressively without losing power due to traction.

I just pulled the fuse out. Its a lot of fun to drive without the NANNY!!! The car will smoke the tiress for a long way

you really should try to disable esc, not just pull the fuse because now your car has set fault codes in the abs computer, the dealership can see those and may have some complaints.

I bought a code reader that also reads abs and air bag codes so I can shut those off again but not every code reader can.

It is absolutely a blast with the fuse pulled. I have had a few good times doing this. But as mentioned my stealership doesn't much appreciate it

AFAIK there is still no true esc disable for our cars other than pulling the fuse. Unless I missed something

If you do the disable method you'll have working gauges. I followed the guide on this forum to setup a solenoid based remote control setup.

I posted it a few posts up ^ however I do not know if it works on 2014's, I know it does with 09 through 2013.

This just basically tells you how to set up a remote operated switch so you do not need to physically go and remove the fuse, walk back to the drivers door and press the button then go back and put the fuse back in.

I found the thread that tells how the esc mod was born

And this one shows the remove fuse method.

I bought this, and it works to remove those codes from the abs computer.
$149 Autel Tech scan tool, model Autolink AL619

If you can get access to one. I got mine on Amazon.com

13.4 is very strong, it looks like she's pulling well.

Thanks it was a fun time. Nobody and I mean nobody even gave it a look until they saw my time on the window... Thanks for the link on the scan tool. I just bought one

How did you go about launching the car? Just pedal to the floor or some other tactic (I'd imagine the former just leads to burnouts and poor times)? I've only drag raced manual trans cars where you can rev to the desired rpm and feather the clutch. I'd hate to neutral bomb this thing.
