Can someone 'splain the car to me? :) 2015

Greetings all,

This inquiry is with regards to the 2015 sedan.

While sitting in the car in the showroom while my Azera is having scheduled maintenance done - I found a few nice toys in the infotainment areas and wanted to get some clarification on what & how I can get them.

Of course the sales droids are almost useless when it comes to this level of question - or else they end up pressuring me to just buy buy buy... and I much prefer to know exactly what is necessary in order to get these features that I saw.

My understanding from BluLink's web page is there are 3 different packages available... connect, remote and guidance. From what I have read - there is no difference in these feature packages between the different trim levels. Is that the case?

Do any of these provide traffic views to the GPS (green/yellow/red) and dynamic routing due to traffic? Or is this an XM service? Or not at all?

I know I also saw a "gas station finder" which showed current prices in the nearby vicinity.... is this part of BL? XM?

I saw certain XM channels that let you record & store, or rewind as well.

Is anyone able to give a complete breakdown on the tech toys & related trims and XM/BL/??? packages so I can figure out exactly what it is I need to look for?

Sales droids don't know the product(s) well enough and online documentation appears to be far too general.

i don't know off the top of my head how the BL package break down. I don't know why they try to separate it all up.

The gas is part of XM i believe. I know when i get the low gas warning the infotainment asks me if it wants me to locate nearby stations. It still does this but I don't pay for that part of XM that tells the gas prices.

XM Data (Traffic, Gas, Weather) are complimentary for 3 years. XM Radio is only complimentary for 3 months.

Here's the bluelink break down:

12 months complimentary connected care which includes AHA radio app, auto collision notification, auto diagnostic trouble code, blue link apps download center access, enhanced roadside assistance, monthly vehicle health report, SOS emergency assistance

3 months complimentary Guidance which is your google search and send to car

3 months complimentary Remote which is your remote start through app, car finder, alarm notification, unlock/lock doors from app

You have to sign up for both Remote and Guidance if you want just one of them no matter what which is about $99/year for each service, so about $200/year

The Connected Care also costs $99/year.

Very good info Ryan - thank you. I guess that explains the gas thing... and I also presume it ties into the GPS for showing direction and distance as well as price. Does the XM Traffic lay over or otherwise impact GPS routing?

I knew the breakdown on the bluelink stuff from their website - but did not know that the first year connected was comped. That's great - and certainly makes getting the other 2 that much more affordable up front.... though renewal costs.... hehe

You can set an option in the navigation to include the XM Traffic information in your routes. I currently have that option on, and it will notify me that there is congestion ahead and will recommend another route. It will give you the option to either stay on the current route, or go with the suggested route when the notification pops up.

That is not correct. You have o have connected care to get remote or guidance. However, you can purchase wither of the last two without purchasing the other one.

I currently have connected care and remote on my Sonata but not guidance. I have all three on my Genesis.

ok - so it does route suggestions, but does not color-code the map for traffic. Am I understanding that correctly?

XM traffic color codes my major highways. However, it does this only in my home state. When I cross state lines they disappear.
