  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey folks,

Curious to hear if anyone has tried or succeeded in replacing their grill with that of the G80 with the mesh pattern, looks like this:

I see the bumpers vary slightly, but it seems the grill shape is the same so I figured it may work as a replacement?

@1FstYota might be the one to answer your question, as he converted his non-sport to "sport" with front/rear bumpers.

Sport grill is a bit shorter than none sport, will not fit.

You can buy aftermarket grills for the 2015-2016 models that looks like the G80 sport grills. Problem is that most aftermarket grills do not have the front sensor cover or a spot for one, so they would need to be modified to accept the sensor cover.

Question , do our front sensor even need the cover to work?

My thought is YES! Every radar I've seen sits behind a 700 dollar piece of plastic which is that cover. So I'm assuming it is there for a purpose, it might work without but probably will have problematic results.

Friend just replaced his grill with no cover. Said radar stayed in placed just replaced grill. Still works fine.

that looks so much cleaner without that ugly fake grille looking cover.

From what I've been led to believe, the "ugly fake grille cover" is there to protect the radar behind it from rocks. IF that is right, sure you can delete it and take a chance the radar doesn't suffer any damage. Genesis must think that's a possibility or it wouldn't be factory installed. What I don't understand is why the "other" Genesis grill doesn't have the same problem unless the clear plastic piece is BEHIND the grill.

What is the point in spending money for no good use?

What's the point of spending 50K plus when a Hyundai Accent at 14K will get you whereever you're going? From what I read, a good portion of young Americans don't even have a driver's license or any interest in even buying a car. Uber, Lyft or rentals when they actually need a car. I'm 80 and I'm still into what's hip. Thought my Sport would be my last ride, but now I'm thinking maybe not.

IF your question is about swapping the Sport grill to another Genesis model, at least for me, IT LOOKS BETTER. Main reason I bought the Sport. Otherwise, I would have gone with the 3.8L non turbo engine with the Ultimate package which appeared to have almost everything that my Sport can standard with.

Does someone know the dimensions of the 2018 g80 sport grill, 2018 non-sport grill, and 2015 grill? Can you fit the 2018 g80 sport grill on to the 2015 genesis? If not, how much is off? I’m trying to figure out if it’s minimal and i can possibly work around a little extra spacing.

Looks like he painted the lip to match the car, too. Did he use the OEM grille for the G80?
