  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone,

I have the opportunity to pick up a beautiful looking, low KM 2015 5.0 Ultimate trim here in Canada.

I have two really small questions that I’m hoping someone can answer, as I know the Canadian models differ from other countries in several ways, the obvious one being that the V8 also has all wheel drive here. Does the car have the white LED daytime running lights in Canada, or are they amber color like I believe they are in the United States? Secondly, does the car have a power rear sunshade for this year, and does it only come on the ultimate trim? My 2009 tech package has the shade and I use it quite often, so I would hate to lose that. Thank you so much!

1. Don't know enough about the LEDs on the car.
2. Yes, the 2015 has a power sunshade. I believe both the Ultimate and the Tech have it. (Someone else chime in)
3. Not sure on the LEDs again.

In the US, tech & ultimate have the motorized rear shade

Thank you for the input! Is this on the Canadian model for sure?

You're right in that Canada's models are different in a number of ways to the US models.

Only one model with the 5.0 was sold in Canada, the Ultimate which has most everything including...

1. Strip LED's as daytime running lights (white). They are quite distinctive.
2. The power rear sunshade was omitted from the 2015 but reappeared in 2016 (not sure why) - I miss it from my 2012
3. Power Trunk Lid
4. Two regular key fobs and one "card key" for your wallet came standard.
5. AWD in the V8 (awesome combination)
6. No flying "H" anywhere on the car - all Genesis badging

If the rear shade is a must, search for a 2016. The glass is quite good at cutting the heat from the sun and the A/C is very strong so I'm not missing it as much as I thought I would. The privacy in raising it was nice along with the message of "buzz off" when someone follows too closely though.

Fantastic, detailed response. I appreciate that so much, and I learned a few new tidbits!! I really would love to have that rear shade still... but this 2015 is gorgeous in Haze Blue with tan/cream interior.

I just noticed that there are a few Ultimate trims on Auto Trader here in Canada and they do have the Hyundai logo on the trunk.

The Canadian 2015 V8, as Jimmy bouy states was only available in the Ultimate Trim level. I can confirm all of his comments except the one about the Flying H. The car came with one on the trunk lid but it is the only one on the car. One thing you will want to consider is that the audio system on the 2015 Ultimate is NOT even close to being as good as the 2009 Tech Package model. There is no DTS decoding available or DVD A. I really miss the DTS, for some of my music concert DVD's, on my 2015 V8. On the plus side though is the AWD which, as jimmy bouy says, is awesome. You also get a heated steering wheel that is now a must have item for any future car.

Thank you so much for the information. Hearing that the audio system is not as good is a real downer, as this is one of the main components that sold me on the 2009 to begin with. It’s arguably my favorite thing about the car.

I also just realized that I’m seeing conflicting info about one other thing - are the HID lights still adaptive cornering lights? I love how they bend into turns on my 09.

As in the USA, some dealers may have replaced the flying H logo with the Genesis wings (which are standard on the ones sold in Korea). In other cases, the owners replaced them.

No, the headlights do not turn into the corners. They don’t do levelling dance that the earlier models like your 2009 Tech Package does. As Mark 888 mentions, some dealers may have changed the Flying H on the trunk lid but apparently it is a pretty simple DIY project if you want to do it yourself. Overall, I think my AWD Ultimate does beat out either of my previous Genesis models. If you like power, the V8 is amazingly effortless on the highway (and elsewhere too). As with all things, try it before you buy it! You’re doing the right thing by asking the Forum for information, Being aware of what to look for will help you a lot when the decision time arrives. Good luck.

Thank you very much.

So the 2016 model sees the return of the rear power shade? Did the adaptive lights return as well?

Will have to let someone else answer that question, I didn’t follow the 2016 threads for fear of discovering things that would annoy me for missing out on them.
