Recently I purchased a used 2019 Genesis G70 from Ontario Genesis dealership under Genesis CPO program.
Have anyone else purchased Genesis in Canada under CPO program? What was your experience?
I did a bit of research prior to purchase, but was able to find what appears to be USA 191 point CPO inspection checklist. I could not find anything Canadian. They did not reply to my emails in regards to CPO program and I assumed it cannot differ too much. Was I ever wrong. After the purchase, to my shock and dismay, I was given 120 point Hyundai CPO inspection checklist.
I contacted Genesis Customer Care and was explained that this is what they use. Genesis Canada does not have use USA checklist inspection nor they have a dedicated Genesis inspection checklist comparable to American one.
I am really surprised and disappointed to learn that Genesis inspects Canadian vehicles to a much lesser scrutiny versus vehicles in USA. I thought I was buying a Genesis luxury brand not Hyundai. I am not even allowed to be serviced by Hyundai, yet it is ok to use lesser Hyundai standards using Hyundai CPO inspection checklist for Genesis vehicle. I've seen other regular brands use stricter and more extensive CPO inspection checklist than Genesis in Canada. Looking at Hyundai checklist, now I understand why so many things were missed compared to my expectations of Genesis. This is a wrong position to take when you are trying to compete versus Lexuses and German brands.
I've attached what I got from Genesis dealership and USA 191 point CPO inspection checklist for comparison. It looks so professional when you put model into a colour slot, because that form wasn’t designed for the vehicle inspected.
