  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,
Is anybody purchased Hyundai extended warranty in Canada? Any feedback?
I checked with 5 dealers and only one offered me Hyundai extended warranty for pre-owned vehicle; others told me that it’s available only for new cars.
2 years – 120,000km; CAD $2300 ( about US$1850). It's probably 3 times more expensive than in US.

It stinks that Hyundai doesn't offer that same warranty in Canada as they do here.

I'm sure you've seen these links.

That price is about what I paid for a bumper to bumper 10 year 100,000 mile...(about 160,000 Km), including Nav, radio, and DIS system.
Here, the factory warranty is 10 yr - 100,000 miles on engine/trans, 5 yr - 60,000 most other things, and 3 yr - 36,000 miles on the navigation/radio/DIS system.

When I bought my used 2013 R Spec dealer really pushed to sell me an extended warranty at same pricing you received. I refused and at first oil change at different dealer service writer commented on what a great warranty I had! Seems previous owner had purchased 10 year bumper to bumper and it was transferable! There is a $50 charge to transfer but lesson learned. Before you buy check to see if there is already one with the car.
I also noticed that in the link provided by Bill K longest warranty now seems to be 7 years. is coverage the same for the 2013 10 year warranty?

The warranty in the US is offered by Hyundai Motor America. The regular warranty and the extended warranty are different in each country or region around the world, depending on competition, government regulations regarding warranties, etc.

In the US, some states classify extended warranties as insurance, which is highly regulated (sometimes including the price of the extended warranty). I believe that FL is one of those states. I don't know anything about extended warranty law in Canada.

I too bought mine in Canada and was offered extended warranty at $1350 for one extra year (it would add up to 6 since from the moment the car was new). I thought it was too expensive after seeing how it's about 10x cheaper in the US.

I got a quote with ensureall.com and the most expensive bumper to bumper one was around $2000 for a total of 10 years (until 2022). That being said, I saw on this forum and others that a lot of people don't recommend it so I didn't buy anything yet.

If anyone had good experiences with extended warranty in Canada, please share.
