  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can't Decide on First Hyundai

Don't rule out the Equus. They can be had for $10,000 less than MSRP (even more if its a demo) Out with the old in with the new. This is a perfect weekend for the bargain deals.
Best of luck!!!

If you are planning on buying soon, you will probably have to pay MSRP for a 2015 Genesis. A 2014 Genesis is going for $8-10K off MSRP, so the price difference between 2014 and 2015 for equivalent features is $15K-$20K.

In my area they are knocking $2K to $3k off MSRP on the new 15's.

There are two other dealers that are competitive with these guys and will beat them they tell me.

So the Santa Fe Sport may be more suitable for the wife. I am going to check out the Caddy SRX and the Buick Enclave with the Buick having an edge by the looks on paper.

The Enclave would better suit your needs.

As for the new/old Genesis/Equus issue - would really depend on what you prioritize.

Want the most passenger space and cushiest ride? Equus

Want the best bang for your buck? 1G Genesis

Want the newest tech, flatter cornering, better seats, better safety, etc.? 2G Genesis

Sure, going to pay a bit of a premium for the 2G Genesis, but if you can hold out for a few months, should be able to get it for a decent price.

Also, why there are bargains for the 1G Genesis, the 2G should hold its value better (so depends on whether you hold on to your cars for a long time).

YEH, you summarized my thoughts better than I did

2G v6 is definitely NOT "flatter" in the corners. The V6 tech I drove yesterday rolled considerably more in the mini-roundabouts than my 09 does. That wonderfully smooth ride isn't free.

2009 suspension was John Krafcik's sport sedan wet dream, and definitely has a much firmer suspension than any other Genesis, with possible exception of 2012-2014 R-Spec (and I am not even sure about that).

I had also been on the fence with the 2014/2015 decision. Recently, I decided on the 2014 RSpec (going from a 2011 4.6). With the discounts and incentives, the purchase price was a projected $15K less than my other alternative - the 2015 5.0. My plan is to hold onto this for 3 years and then purchase the Genesis in whatever iteration that may be at that time. (I'm always a little leery of a first year model). I wanted the added horsepower of the 5 liter, better cornering, added amenities such as folding mirrors, better electronics, DT running lights, 19" wheels, etc. Plus, I just plain love the styling on the 1st generation Genesis. It's always turned heads. I am hoping that Hyundai will give some consideration to the rear end of the new Genesis in the future. It currently looks much like a Sonata (that's not a bad thing, but I want more differentiation). I love the handling and power of the 2014 RSpec - a noticeable improvement on the handling from my 2011. Very comfortable with my decision and more $$$ in my back account plus a new warranty again.
