Can't see Homelink button on mirror at night???

I can't see the Homelink buttons on the mirror at night when approaching the garage. I have to turn on the overhead light to see them. Shouldn't they be lit?

No. They do not light up at night. Kinda strange everything else lights up.

I thought about this the first time I tried to use these at night. My thought was that if they were illuminated on the rearview mirror it could cause possible distraction. Some are built into the headliner, near the map lights or into the sunvisor. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the most annoying. It's about a 2 for me.

I have illuminated OnStar buttons at the base of my Traverse mirror and have never been distracted by them. I too wish the Genesis had illuminated buttons.

Come on folks, lighting those buttons would have added another $10.00 to the MSRP! Would have been a nice feature, but not a deal breaker for sure. Something else to wish for on the next upgrade.

On my last car, Nissan Murano, the button was not lighted either. After a while you can just get it by feel. Which I have been doing for the past 5years, with the Nissan and now the Genesis...

How many of the Homelink buttons do you have programmed? I have one of three used; no need for the other two. Program the most frequently used garage door to button #3 between the 2 lights on the Homelink; that'll at least make it easier to hit it in the dark... compared to Homelink button #1 on the far left.

You get used to it over time and learn to find it in the dark. Although it was one of the first peeves I nioticed.

i always end up moving the mirror, so the next morning i have to readjust it. drats! maybe find like a small glow adhesive and just stick it on or something i dunno

That is exactly how I programmed my Homelink. Very easy to find the button at night.

I'm annoyed by the dark buttons too. They should have at least put some raised bumps on the buttons to make them easier to feel.

You can buy small rubber bumps in a number of sizes. I got some somewhere that were quite small less than half the size of the button.

I use all three buttons, one for the Community gate, one for the local group gate within the compound and one for the garage door. I can feel where the left edge is so I put the bump on the middle on and actually one on the main gate. so I can pretty well tell what is where in the dark. Some one needs to sell some glow in the dark bumps to try and kill one problem with two stones.

I think it's the just the way home link mirrors are made. This is my 4th car with homelink and they are all the same, no backlight. First car I thought it was dumb and then you learn to live with it. I don't even think twice about it any more as I program the button immediately to the left of the green light. No matter how dark it is, i just push beside the green light, always works and never miss or fumble.

I had mine programed to the # 2 button and no problems but when I saw your post I thought programing the #3 button was even a better idea so I reprogramed.

I only have ONE garage door to open, so I programmed ALL THREE buttons on my Veracruz to open it. As long as I can fumble around enough to find any of them, I'm good to go
