  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Been trying out a few things with my new genesis purchase. Started the car then drove to a local store. Didn't want to cut the engine off so I left it running. Used my key fob to lock the car. ...didn't work. Used my phone/app to remote lock and it locked.

Ran into the store, came back and hit the unlock button on the door handle and nothing. Tried the key fob to unlock the doors and nothing. Had to unlock the key using remote unlock on my phone. Is this normal? I was standing right next to the car with the fob. Sucks if you ask me. Safety issues with this situation

Yeh believe that's a correct,if you lock the car using the app you'll Have use it to unlock it!
And ya sometimes the app can be a pain in the ass! But i guess it has it good points.Really kinda expensive though seeing as it's main good points are the remote start and POI search/send to car function.leastwise for me😏

Yes, it is a safety issue, as they don't want you to leave the engine running with car locked from the outside.

As far as unlocking, I assume you know that the physical key embedded in your key fob should work in an emergency.

Pretty funny. I'll bet some folks don't even know that they own a real car key.

The app sometimes doesn't connect, and it can take up to a minute to communicate with the car. It's probably easier and safer to turn off and lock the car, then remote start the car from the app as you're walking into the store if you want to keep your car cool. That will ensure you're not standing next to your car waiting for it to unlock.

Not sure about the app (don't have it) but, I've experienced the same thing with locking the car while running. Before you get too critical, could you imagine sitting at a red light and have some unsavoury character come up to your locked car, press the button on the door handle and proceed to car-jack you... Too bad the car's software couldn't recognize that no key is present in the vehicle and to allow an unlock from a key outside the vehicle.
