  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My wife complains that the locks on her G70 sometimes just plain won’t let her unlock the car. She has to dig her fob out of her purse to unlock it and in the dark, with her hands full, and that doesn’t make her feel very secure or happy.

I know that these locking systems aren’t 100% foolproof, but she seems to run into problems on her car much more than I see on my GV80. Mine’s not flawless, but it’s much more predictable than hers.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I’d like to know if it’s a common problem before I address the dealer. TIA.

Are you talking about unlocking the door by placing a hand on the door handle? If so, my passenger's front door has not unlocked twice. I've never had trouble with the driver's door.

Yes, thanx. It never occurred to me that the handle might be the problem. I’ll have her try the other side when it happens again.

The problem can also be her hand. Hand cream, sanitizer etc. can possibly affect it.

Never had a problem with the car but my one laptop has a fingerprint sensor to unlock it. If I just washed my hands it does not work.

I've noticed this on my 2022 G70 as well. It has happened when I remote start the car and I'm putting things in the car, then the engine shuts down because I am taking too long. Then I try to unlock the door on the passenger side with the handle and it wont do it.

I can't remember if this has happened on the driver door.

Thanx. I’m hoping it’ll turn out to be a “fixable” problem cuz it seems to be getting worse.

Try cleaning the car handle and if not always has happened, see if if you have the latest software updates installed.

Does she keep her fob in her purse along with her phone?
Depending on how things are arranged, the phone can easily block the signal from her fob.
