  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Lovebug season is upon us here in Florida and I spent an hour getting them off the car before their acid ate into the clearcoat yesterday. So far, only Colgan appear to have one for the Genesis. Has anyone bought one, or found another source? Were you happy with it?
Thanks,
Stu

Stuz,

I never use a Car Bra. Had bad things happen to the paint under the bra in the past.

Here is what I do. I use a "Bug Screen", also known as a "Love Bug Screen". I always carry it in the trunk so I can install it at a moments notice. As it happens, this year, (a couple days ago), I went to install it and because it was so old, the elastic broke. No problem.I went to Auto Zone, and purchased another, and extended it across the front of the car. I do this every year. Cost me $6.95 and that is much more than I used to pay, but I needed it, and Walmart did not have any.

Installed it on my Genesis but have not yet installed the one on the Continental yet. (still in the trunk).

BTW, Last May, while in Penfield, I used the Love Bug Screen, not for bugs, but to keep the white "fluff" from the Cotton Wood Trees, out of my radiator. That white fluff, was falling so heavy, it looked like snow falling.

Seeing your age, you probably remember when guys used to stand on street corners in Florida, selling Love Bug Screens. They used to sell a lot of them.

Not sure where it is but there is a thread on the clear bra....I have one and its phenominal

Hi Bob
Never heard of it before, I will check it out tomorrow. I never had a problem with bras, (except in my youth).
Had one on a Probe, Maxima, Marquis all for several years with no paint problems. I would take them off about every 6 months to clean underneath, but thats all. $6.95 sounds a lot better than $135 from Colgan.

I did a search under bra but nothing came up re the clear one.

Thanks
Stu

Try your local Walmart, or Advance Auto, or Auto Zone, or any other parts place. The screen comes with brass holes punched in each end, plus elastic cords, plus two metal hooks. If you have a choice, get the one for large cars, as it will cover the entire front openings, plus part of the hood. The smaller ones may not cover the entire front opening. They also sell one for SUV's, May be too big and you might have to modify it to fit.

Looking at the two I just got at Advance Auto.

One says "Auto But Screen". For Large Cars, Trucks, Vans & SUV's. On the bottom, the company is "Victor". (part number 00906-8)

The other says SUV and Truck Bug Screen. Also "Victor (PN 00905-8)

On the back of each package, it says "Bell Automotive Products. Inc".
www.bellautomotive.com and www.victorproducts.net

I use them more for keeping bugs out of the radiator, but they normally are large enough to protect the first couple of inches of the hood.
