I'm curious to hear from those who have recently purchased a Genesis...did you have a positive experience?
I've tried to buy a GV70 from 2 separate dealers, both have been a total waste of my time. And both consumed an exorbitant amount of my time, only to end in disappointment. I have a hefty down payment, excellent credit, and I am trying my hardest to buy this vehicle. Do they want to sell these cars?! It doesn't seem like it. I really want a GV70, but I don't know how much more time I can invest only to be disappointed by the sheer incompetence and dishonesty from the dealerships. Here's my latest experience to provide some context.....
I had an appointment to pick up a GV70 today at 5pm. We agreed on a price on Friday at 2pm, they marked the car as sold, and told me it couldn't go through the detailing process until Monday due to a shortage of service workers, which is why we were scheduled to pick up the car today at 5pm. My husband and I rearranged our day, since we have to drive an hour to the dealership each way and we both run our own businesses. The sales rep assured me everything was ready to go and that the paperwork would be a streamlined and quick process. I secured a new insurance policy for the vehicle, had a cashier's check in hand, and when I arrived today, nothing was ready: the paperwork wasn't started, the car hadn't been detailed.
I was told the paperwork would take about 40 minutes to complete, since there were two other people ahead of me to secure finance (which we had already worked through on Friday). I was confused to hear this, I explained that I had an appointment and all these details were worked out already. I wanted to understand the problem and I was told "the more questions you ask, the longer it will take." That is a direct quote. I called the sales rep I had been dealing with (since she wasn't around for this conversation), and she starts talking about the issues with the car. Apparently they didn't take off the outer plastic and it had melted to the trim of the car when it was siting in the sun, so they had to manually remove tiny pieces of shredded plastic from along the trim, instead of it coming off in one continuous piece. She said it would probably take a few hours until the car could be ready. I never received a call that things were delayed, and when I expressed my surprise that nothing was in fact as they assured me it would be and that this was an utter waste of my time, I was met with condescension, disrespect, and malice. The absurdity of the experience continues, but I think you get the gest.
I have never been repeatedly treated so disrespectfully. There was another horrible experience with a different dealership, and I'll spare you the details, however, this has me wondering -- is this a systemic problem? Why is it so difficult to find a salesperson who will respect my time and sell me a car?
I canceled my new insurance policy, and tomorrow I'll deposit my cashier's check back into my account. All the joy and excitement I was feeling to make my first new car purchase is gone, and I am devastated.
