  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

At 11,500 miles, got rear-ended by a 23 year old messing with his phone on a freeway. He then barely side swiped another car on my left trying to avoid me. I saw it all coming in the rear view mirror when I was slowing down for traffic and he looked up. No one was hurt. Thankful about that, yes. Upset that now I have a car that has to be claimed as being hit if I sell it and knowing it's been hit as well...yes.

Holy crap! Glad to hear you're okay! How is your back?

Curious?

Did the other driver have proper licensing and insurance?

I live in No. VA. and lots of drivers nowadays don't - apparently, the authorities are looking the other way.

You can spot 'em because they drive oh so carefully the way some drunk drivers might do. There are other indicators - but I'm politically correct - right now anyway.

On the positive side, it looks like all your body panels are still straight which = 99% chance of no serious structural damage. But that blows.

Glad you are okay. Sadly a few of us have been there lately, myself included. I know the feeling.

I've concluded that these self-important texting nitwits will never learn. I hate it for you that this happened. I'm afraid I would have choked the little bastard.

Glad you're OK.

That sucks and fortunately you weren't injured.

+1 I think I would have shoved the cell phone someplace the sun don't shine!

Make sure you put in a 'diminished value' claim on the car. You should get money back on top of the damages for the value that diminishes due to an accident, such as the price drop when you sell your car.

Both accidents I was in (not my fault either time), I got this after insisting. I got $1500 on my Jeep Cherokee and $3000 on my Mazdaspeed 6. I had to threaten to sue to get the $1500 on the Jeep but the Mazda, they did with me only making the case twice.

+1 - make sure you do this, it is worth the fight and you have the ultimate leverage as the accident was not your fault.
