  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone,

It's recently come to my attention that there is an issue with my steering on my 2021 Genesis G80 2.5t. This is most noticeable at highway speeds, but the car never seems to stay straight. I constantly need to make micro-adjustments in order to keep in within the lane (this is with lane assist off by the way). This is incredibly frustrating when trying to cruise because it always feels as though I don't have control of the vehicle. This also affects cruise control and the highway "autonomous" driving assist. I recently got the rear tires changed (MS Pilot A/S 4s) and an alignment done in which I'll post the specs below. I don't believe it's alignment because it drifts in both directions, not just one over the other. Any advice?

Best,
Liam

Some cars require a little more toe in to reduce wander. This forces the car to track in a straight line by both tires pushing towards the center of the car. This will wear the front tires, so only make small adjustments.
You haven't advised us of milage or service history, so there might be damage to the front end. I replaced the front wheel bearings on three of my DH models to reduce noise and tighten the steering, but I also replaced control arms where it appeared they were out of spec. Control arms for my cars are wholesaled though various Korean parts vendors online. Last week I ordered 1AAuto replacement front quick struts to equalize ride height before I start to bend anything. They were about
$150 from any source that sold them.

My mechanic is quouting $5k+ total cost to replace front control arms cause my car was swaying right to left at speed (the bushings are bad) $2700+ just to swap out bushings. Where are you getting parts?

Your mechanic should demonstrate to you which bushings are bad and provide a video of them so you can show other interested parties how bad they must be. Good afternoon, I had the same problem on my G80. The car wandered all over the lane on the highway. I had it checked by 3 different shops and they all found that there was no mechanical issue with the car including the wheel alignment. One person said they had the same issue and it was the Michelin Primacy tires that were on it. I replaced them with Continentals and the problem was gone. Gorgeous smooths comfortable ride and the car drove in a straight line. I just bought a 2021 gv80 3.5 AWD with Michelin Primacys and the car is all over the road with 16k miles on it. I am going to replace them with Continentals again and see what happens. Your problem could be the tires, not the car. Keep us posted.

Which Continental model?
I am looking at the Continental Cross Contact LX 25 for my GV80 3.5 AWD. I also saw the Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 that looks like a contender. But I had good luck with the Continentals so I may just stay with them. I am not a fan of the Primacys at all. I have Michelin Pilot Sports on my vette and Lexus sc430 and they are nice but the Primacy is horrible to me.
