  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Car Door Stuck - How to Open? - Warranty won't cover portion of repair.

Third party warranties are not worth the paper they are written on. They will disclaim any time the can.

My 3rd party warranty paid out on a $11,300 claim for engine replacement and BSD replacement. Then they had to replace a mirror, then some other minor issues. The original policy cost me less than $3k. No balking, disclaiming, excluding or anything else. Louisiana Dealer Services.

Some are ok. CarMax's own warranty usually pays. Doug DeMuro got their warranty for ~$4000 and in the time he's had it, they paid out almost $24,000 in repairs on his Land Rover.

My carmax warranty paid very well, over 4x the cost on a BMW 330i

My 2016 Genesis recently developed this same problem with the rear driver side door. The door worked one minute, then it didn't. Now it won't open from the inside or the outside. I've come across a lot of posts that mention this same problem that aren't just confined to the Genesis. Apparently, Hyundai has issued an extended warranty to cover door latch problem in the 2016 Elantra and 2016-2017 Tuscon.

There are many potential reasons why the Genesis wasn't included, but one main reason is likely that they haven't had enough complaints yet. I just submitted a complaint and now I'm trying to find a corporate number I can call. It seems like this extended warranty should include the Genesis as well.

(second to last post here shows the extended warranty letter from Hyundai)

I have the same issue rear driver door wont open from inside or outside and you cant even manually open the lock button. So over this car and I’m on my 3rd transmission. 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan 5.0

Yikes, third transmission? That does not sound like a fun experience. Hopefully warranty covered that for you.

Would you be willing to contact Hyundai and report your door issue? With your transmission woes you may already have them on speed dial :D

Same problem on the rear drivers side door.
The comments here are not sounding good.

Car has been great up until now.

Genesis fix this!

Im in the same boat, they want 2200 dollars to replace the door panel.

I've noticed that the panel itself is only 800 dollars from a parts direct site, and in some cases i see them used for around 300. Im not sure what all they plan on breaking to do the job and why, once they break the panel off, why they cant take the rest off carefully. Curious to know if anyone else has any success stories here.
