If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The car finder feature on the Genesis app, that shows where your car is located on a map, NEVER works. After you’ve used it once, it always shows your car in that same position. It never updates after the first time. I wish Genesis would fix this bug. I’ve reported it to Bluelink, but nothing was done. I have a 2017 G80, and am using the latest iOS version on an iPhone X.

I don't have that problem. Do you refresh the location or simply look at the map. Carfinder is not automatic, you need to request it.

Yes, I refresh, and initiate the search for my car. The app cycles, but then displays the location of my car months ago. It doesn’t update.

I think they may have changed something in the app I am using iOS. There is no refresh (although there is for status) but this will work
1, click on map
2. Click on the car location icon at bottom right
3. Click on the car on the map ( it’ shows in the old location)
4. Click on the up arrow at the bottom of the screen
5. Click on clear location (it will is if it is ok to delete, click yes)
6. Click on the car location again on bottom right
7. It will ask for your pin
8. Once you enter it it should show your car in the right (current) location

If you get hung up in any of the steps, just write back.

Whew, yes that is a lot of work! The app could start a lot of improve the to make it more user friendly. They need better developers.

The last time I use the car finder on my G90 it said the car was more than a mile away and would not give me its location. Have any of you had the same problem? Is there a way around this? The family uses the vehicle. I want to be able to know their location in case they have an emergency. I can do this with my 2016 Chevy Malibu Limited. I guess I could call genesis care and get its location. But that’s a PIA.

The steps in the above post should work

I’ve seen that too. I don’t know why you need to be within a mile of the car to locate it.

Mcc, I’ll give your information a try the next time the cars in Phoenix and I’m in Yuma. We got 125 miles of desert between major cities that might have towing services. If they break down I want to know exactly what milepost they’re at so I can head out. Sometimes I’m closer than AAA or Genesis towing.

Great but you don't have to wait until you need it to try it out.

I do need to wait, when I am the daily driver of the car. I’m never more than a mile away from it. I’ve only tried it when the wife has taken it to Phoenix or Tucson.

You don’t have to be away from the car. If it is working it should show the car in a different place than it was before. It does not matter where you are relative to the car. You said the problem was it always shows the car in the same position or am misunderstanding? Maybe I am not solving your problem.

You did misunderstand me. It does show the car in different locations. It just won’t tell me when the car is more than a mile away where it is. I hope this clears up the confusion. That’s why am waiting to see if my car will show up while it’s Phoenix, using the above method, while I’m still in Yuma.

Let’s hope it works for you. Let us know.

That confused me even more. How can something be a mile from where it is?

I wanted to ask that also but I didn’t want to frustrate anyone with my continued confusion.
I think he was going for: It just won’t tell me when the car is more than a mile away where it was. But that still leaves me puzzeled since I am sure he can go more than a fews mile from his hometown test it.

Yes, you’re absolutely right. I apologize for the confusion.I guess I wasn’t very clear in what I was attempting to say. I will attempt to test it this weekend to see if I can get the car farther than a mile from me and use the system. My point is I need to separate my physical location (phone GPS) while the car is further away. Unfortunately I’m not going to ask my wife to test this. I will ask her to take the car shopping this weekend. Which will put her in town but farther than a mile away for me. She has her own car and doesn’t like driving the Genesis if she doesn’t have to. I’ll report back the results soon as I get them.

My comment should have said , when the car is a mile away from where my phone is. Or where I physically am. Which won’t happen until I get someone else to drive it a distance greater than a mile. As I stated in the above post I will attempt to test it this weekend.

Thanks Rick, I understand now and this makes your problem even more interesting.
So are you saying that wherever you go with your car and your phone together the app reports the correct car location, correct?
If so, I think everything must be working correctly but here are two other scenarios to try if your wife doesn’t like driving the Genesis
1. Give her you phone and let her drive away. The she can run the app and locate the genesis at home
2. You can have the app installed on as many devices as you like so it shouldn’t be depended on the distance between the phone and the car
3. Leave you phone at home (or install the app on your wife’s phone) and drive the Genesis away. She can run the app from home and locate the car.

Assuming your wife does mind using the app. You could get it all queued up for her to make it easier.

Gotcha. I only used it twice. The first time the car (2015) s about 45 miles away. The second time on the new car and it was about 50 feet away.

Not sure why there is a mile limit. My car is being transported across the country. Would love to know the exact location of the trailer. Our Mercedes app will tell you the car location anywhere.
