  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Car finder feature on Genesis app

Not sure why there is a mile limit. My car is being transported across the country. Would love to know the exact location of the trailer. Our Mercedes app will tell you the car location anywhere.

I am not sure there is a milage limit. Did you try it on your car? What does it say?

My car is being transported across country, I'll try when it arrives. I was hoping to track it across country.

Right now, it says your car is outside 1 mile from your location.

I see now. Must be some oddity in the app programming.

I can now see that Rick in Yuma is going to face the same problem.

I just spoke with Genesis app support. Was basically worthless conversation as he just read from the manual and said that it's meant for finding your car within walking distance. You also cannot find your car if it's in drive within a mile. Must be parked.

Mercedes allows you to track a moving vehicle.

Mercedes allows you to track a moving vehicle.

Genesis seems to have this capability but for whatever reason have not included it in the app.
Here is what my manual says:
Stolen Vehicle Recovery
In the event that a Blue Link® vehicle is reported stolen (and a
stolen vehicle report has been filed with the appropriate police
department), the response center can provide assistance to law
enforcement authorities in an attempt to recover the vehicle.
Vehicle Slowdown
Used alongside Stolen Vehicle Recovery, this feature enables
law enforcement to gradually reduce the engine power of
the vehicle, thus slowing it down to safe levels. A warning is
transmitted to the driver prior to the slowdown procedure.
Vehicle Immobilization
Used alongside Stolen Vehicle Recovery, this feature enables
law enforcement to send a signal to the vehicle which
immobilizes the engine management system, thus preventing
startup. This capability is only valid when the ignition is off, but
can be saved for later immobilization if the vehicle is on or in
motion at the time of signal transmission.

You’re absolutely correct. Members need to call Genesis connected services to access these. My wife’s in Phoenix, I just tried to pull it up and it says I can’t locate vehicle past 1 mile on location.

But they’ll allow you to set up a zone if the vehicle leave that area. To inform you if the car is out of the zone. Which is baloney. Because I can locate other vehicles on other apps that I own.

I agree, the one mile limit seems kind of pointless. If I want to locate my car, let me locate it no matter where I am in relation to the car.

I think they may have changed something in the app I am using iOS. There is no refresh (although there is for status) but this will work
1, click on map
2. Click on the car location icon at bottom right
3. Click on the car on the map ( it’ shows in the old location)
4. Click on the up arrow at the bottom of the screen
5. Click on clear location (it will is if it is ok to delete, click yes)
6. Click on the car location again on bottom right
7. It will ask for your pin
8. Once you enter it it should show your car in the right (current) location

If you get hung up in any of the steps, just write back.

Whew, yes that is a lot of work! The app could start a lot of improve the to make it more user friendly. They need better developers.

PERFECT !!!!! Great instructions....thank you !!!!

So I am curious if you have managed to solve this problem you had with the car finder feature. There are other problems I have found in using my car. Outside, poor fitment and excessive panel gaps seem to be common as well, bad enough that door seams get dirty easily (poor drainage) along with other areas that make it harder to keep clean, but that's the least of our problems. What some gaps might let in are beyond the reach of many. Down the road, this might cause issues. After reading an article from https://atfulldrive.com/best-foam-cannon, I started using foam cannon to wash my car, and it works great.

Thank you. This 8-step process worked. It's not 2021. I bought a new 2021 G80 and this "bug" still has not been repaired. I agree. Could be much more user friendly!

The last time I use the car finder on my G90 it said the car was more than a mile away and would not give me its location. Have any of you had the same problem? Is there a way around this? The family uses the vehicle. I want to be able to know their location in case they have an emergency. I can do this with my 2016 Chevy Malibu Limited. I guess I could call genesis care and get its location. But that’s a PIA.
This worked like a charm

Just now tried the car finder and it showed my 2016 here at home....exactly where it is....

Someone at Genesis, or on the app team, cheats on their spouse....so they don't want to be able to be tracked via the app. Uber got sued for this once....

Works!!!

The first time I went to use this, I had the same issue. I was on a cruise and wanted to make sure my car was still there when I got back. Then I realized that I parked in the lower level of a parking garage right in the center of the garage. Next time, I will park close to an opening.
One thing I noticed on my Wifes BMW is that when the car is moving, it will just show the last spot the car was. And it will not change until you look for it again, so if you keep looking when the car is moving, it will show the last spot that you checked on it even if that was a month ago. For the guy that is getting his transported, you might want to check when you think the driver is sleeping.
