  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

car is dead

Well...2 days have gone by. I drove my car Sunday...no issues...had to get to my office early today (was nervous, as I did not want to deal with a dead car)...no problem. Car is running great.

I will tell the dealer about the issue this week when I have the car in for it's scheduled service.

Someone asked...my Genesis is a 2015 with everything but the Ultimate package (Signature and Technology). I could not rationalize the upgrade, plus availability is terrible in West Michigan.

the tow truck driver jumped it using the front battery terminal (near all the fuses) and it started right up. Apparently, I must have not have grounded the negative in the incorrect spot...as he did it right away, which made me feel foolish...granted rescuing cars is not what I do for a living.

Luckily on I bring my car into the dealership for its 7500 service this week.

As I write this post, I am letting the car run in my garage.

I had an Azera that did that same thing. The dealer said :"you have a dead cell in the battery and it is not covered" I said that was not possible the car was 2 years old. So they changed the battery, two days later the same issue. It turned out the wiring harness was grounded out and starting to fry. They had to replace a good bit of the harness. Thank goodness for a warrenty but out $90 for a battery for no reason.

It is possible for a battery cell to be damaged by physical shock, even when fairly new. Usually this happens when the weather is very hot, and the plastic battery is weakened by the heat, and a physical shock occurs (pot hole, etc) to damage a cell. This should be less of a problem on a Genesis, because the battery is in the trunk away from the heat generated by the engine.
