  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is anyone experiencing the issue I'm recently having with my 2015 V8 Genesis? I press down the brake, press the button and all the lights and nav come on but the car makes not one click or sound and doesn't start. I had it towed into the dealer before I recently went on vacation and that were able to see the issue so I left it there. When I returned from vacation, apparently, it began to start fine and they ran the engine tests and there were no error issues reported from the computer. Basically, I then took the car back (uncomfortably) realizing that this may happen again since they didn't find anything and today the exact same thing happened! There are no warning lights flashing or anything out of the ordinary and the "system check" goes fine...it's like alive (lights, etc.) but dead (no sound and engine won't run over.)

Mine has done that on several occasions, but always has started on the second try. You press the start button and all the lights and everything comes on, but the engine won't fire. Yup, same thing here. I just press the brake and try again and it starts. It has only happened four or five times. I find it worrisome, but I live 220 miles from the nearest dealer, so I don't have the luxury of bringing it in. Hasn't happened for a while though.

When this happens check to see if the brake light works...if not it's probably a defective brake switch (located on or near the brake pedal)
This problem happens on most cars not just Hyundai

Agreed on the brake light / switch.... also, check the connection at the battery. My 2011 did this, and was a not tight connection that was intermittent...even after the battery change from the dealer... but I digress...

This happened once after my car sat for 3-4 days. I pressed the start button a few times and nothing happened. I don't remember if the lights came on or not (I think they did), but the brakes felt rock hard with no pedal travel at all. Just as I was about to give up and call the dealer, the car started and the brakes felt fine. It has not done it since, even after sitting for a few days.

No but my car flat out 100% died on me twice after sitting for 48-72 hours. At an airport each time, really sucked to land to that!

My bet its the battery. Have it checked by your dealer. I would also check the connections at your battery to insure they are tight.

It's the ground cable coming from the battery to the car. If it does it again try tapping on it. It's as if the ground strap doesn't make a good enough connection.
