  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi I have a 16 awd genesis with 50k miles....bought it at 40k and it drove straight as an arrow. Just replaced tires and now it pulls to the left horribly when Im doing over 60 mph. Firestone did 3 alignments and even replaced the tires with a better brand and it's still doing it. I dont know where to go from here so any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

Take it to a different tire shop for a second opinion. Simple solution.

took it to local hyundai and paid for another alignment and same....they also said nothing looked bent or broken under there

Was literally just typing that same suggestion.

I would take it to a different tire shop and have them check the actual tires and balance. Also, have them check for a bent rim. Sounds like one of your fronts may be defective.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
also I would double check the brake as well, might be brake pad stick?

it does have a slightly bent rim on back passenger side...dont know if that would make it pull left so bad at highway speeds

Easy enough to find out. Switch it to the other side and see if that changes the pull to the right. Easier and cheaper than the other solutions to date.

hmm they did switch that rim from back to front and then back again...havent tried switching it to other back tire

Was wondering if maybe they moved that rim to the front now unbeknownst to you. Ed makes a good suggestion too. You need to determine where the bent rim is now and get it put it back where it was in the rear, or replace.

they say its back on rear passenger side....they cant get it in today to switch both rear tires would it be overly hard to do it myself?

Not sure I would mess with it since they need to be swapped side to side and both would need off at the same time.

Do you have it marked or is it that obvious that it's bent? In the end, it may be time to replace.

very slightly bent they said....maybe when wife gets home ill use 2 jacks and swap the rears...got an appointment with a genesis dealer on tuesday so if all else fails maybe they can figure it out

Two sets of tires, multiple alignments and it starts at 60mph? Sounds like it's trying to steer that way. Have you tried turning off the LKAS? Maybe something got bumped during the first tire install.

I don't know the condition of your old tires, but it's possible they were "formed" by thousands of miles of driving to somewhat correct for whatever is causing the pull. Once new tires were put on, that correction was done away with.

A lot of people will just ignore a pull for a long time and keep driving it.

Generally not a Firestone fan, either tires or service. A slightly bent rim in the rear should not cause a pull to the left. I would get a 4 wheel thrust alignment at a reputable shop.

Could be a caliper/pad dragging on that side... Kinda rare, but not impossible.

they are saying need to replace both front struts...to start...see if that fixes problem

Who is "they"? If it's Firestone, I wouldn't believe anything they say. I know a lot of people that have worked at Firestone stores and have told me the stories of the training they go through to learn how to rip people off.

If the tires have been swapped side to side, and it's still pulling in the same direction, then I'd let the dealer do the work. If you only have 50k miles, almost everything is still under warranty. Unless it's an alignment issue. Could be a lot of things that could be causing it.

You bought it used. Is the Carfax clean? It's possible the vehicle has been in an accident and the frame got out of spec.

100% true, they train their advisors to rip you off. was told I needed a brake fluid flush once on my old car, that had just had the fluid flushed less than a week before at the dealer. When I asked if they could show me why I need new brake fluid, they told me I’m not allowed back there.

Haven’t been to a firestone since!
