  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
Genesis G70
I've been going to local car shows over the past several weeks and the G70 certainly attracts attention, even among so many other awesome cars. I hang out with a couple M4/M6 guys, so ya.. really nice cars among hundreds of others of various ages and types. Our local Genesis dealer brought out a 2020 MB G70 and SI G80 last night, so we parked the 3 cars in "Genesis" row. The cars go a lot of attention and watching all of the quizzical looks from people was pretty funny. Like "what the heck are these??" I fielded a fair amount of questions and even though we know the cars well, generally speaking people have no idea. When I would inform them, most were genuinely surprised by what I told them and seemed to be looking for a "what's the catch" moment.

I got to hang out with my GXM and the service manager for a couple hours, so I asked lots of questions. One thing I learned was the when under full acceleration, the ECU turns off all non essential things like AC in favor of max power. That's interesting because I have made several comments about the AC having no effect on the power (in the 3.3T anyways).

Of special note for @Toddasaurus. I kept track of the ratio of people visiting my SS G70 vs. the MB G70 and SI G80.. Probably a 3 or 4:1 ratio.. Sorry to all of the rest of you that chose the wrong color.... @Beefer :grinlaugh:

Hah!

Proven, SS best color. 10/10 because science.

MB is too flashy for a luxury car (though it does look amazing on G70s). Park an AB next to it and see what happens ;)

I appreciate your logic, and agree completely. Even so, @Slip_Angle made a more convincing case because he backed up his statements with actual peer-reviewed, legitimate scientific evidence.

Well, if anyone near LA wants to go to Cars & Coffee in Huntington Beach, I'm willing to test it! I'd be interested to see if an HR turns more heads too (because psychology studies on the color say it should)

I was being sarcastic and silly.

I know you already know this, but I have to make sure everyone else knows.

😊

Sounds like a cool time! The one time I brought my G70 to cars and coffee (the day after I bought it) it got a lot of attention too, even more than my GTO usually gets.

FYI, A/C cut-out during WOT has been a feature of almost every car for at least the last 20 years. (y)

Hmm, thanks! I didn't know that. I came from a Honda/Acura world and having the AC on took precious HP. You could really feel it on those cars.
