  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I can smell gas wherever i park my car. I feel the exhaust smells like that.
On a related note yesterday when i was about to park the car the car started vibrating and some icon flashed momentarily. I stopped and restarted the car and issue did not happen. When i parked and got out of the car i noticed water or oil dripping on the road. I smelled it but did not smell like gas. It was odorless. Any pointers?

If it was odorless, probably just water from a/c system.

Is your fuel tank full or does it matter what level it is for the gas smell to occur? Not sure injectors would cause a fuel smell? If your not seeing a drip of fuel anywhere then hopefully your not leaking raw fuel. Fuel tanks are vented back to the engine so wondering if the vapor recovery system has an issue? Normally those will throw an engine code in most cases so not sure if you could have a tank venting issue without a code or not? You might also remove your back seat bottom cushion to see if an access hatch exist to the top of your fuel tank. Most cars have the fuel pump inside the tank and those can be removed through a large opening in the tank. Might inspect this area to be sure the seal for that cover is still fully intact and nothing is leaking there. Good luck.

You may want to put it up on a lift if you think there is a leak. If you think it is at the exhaust you can have some unburned gas from running rich but that is unusual.

Or, did you have a lot of beans for lunch?

I was kind of figuring the vibration was a mis-fire due injector clogged and not having a good spray pattern, dumping fuel into cylinder. It would have to dump a boat load of fuel to smell gas from inside the engine itself. I am going with a evap, cause for that.

Thanks for the pointers everyone! I will get it checked by some technician
