  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Took my car to a car wash I've used repeatedly but this time a problem:
put car in neutral, book foot off gas and brake and Car would sort of LIFT on le3ft side and make a slam noise rather than moving forward on the line. Made sure parking brake red light thingy on dash was off - as car wash peeps suggested - tried again, no go ... Several tries, not working.

What I DID do, right before guy had me get out and got in to move it himself (and it worked) was to turn OFF the Auto Hold feature which I realized was on although I am NOT sure it was actually activated at that time as car had been moving.

So: anyone else run into "put into neutral but won't move" kind of trouble at a car wash with 2015 Genesis Ultimate - not sure ultimate relevant for this issue - and if so, what happened and how was it resolved?

And/or anyone find the Auto Hold feature raising any issues at Car Wash?

Thanks guys; all help appreciated.

Gosh I'm thinking the only thing it could be was the auto-hold, unless the tires were too wide for the track and the machinery seized the wheel, which I doubt since you've taken it there prior.

It's slightly surprising too in the sense that with the 2nd generation, engaging the auto-hold seems to require more deliberate interaction of the brake pedal.

P.S. I bet your heart skipped a beat when it happened lol. Mine would have.

It was the Auto Hold. I did it once (forgot it was on) and am trying to make sure I don't ever do it again! :) It was exactly as you describe.

On a side note. Read the warranting below regarding the spare tire and Automatic car washes...

I don't use Automatic car washes but thought I should post this for others who do.

You guys are fantastic! Now let's see if I can remember and if the Car Wash can enter the 21st Century and figure this out for themselves in the future.

I never use Auto Hold but had the same problem. It was as if the car was being dragged along in Park. A second car wash I use did not have this issue.

I go to the car wash a few times a week. My routine is to shut off auto hold, auto wipers and auto trunk. I think I read in the manual that the truck could open automatically in a car wash if the feature is left on.

That's if your washing your car and walking about, either spraying or hand washing, and leave the FOB in your pocket. Step to close to the trunk area for too long and she starts to open. Not an issue for a an automatic car wash.
