  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Car acts like battery is dead so I opened trunk to check battery terminals.all was ok so when I closed trunk lights came in and car started. Now when car acts up I hit the back fender area by passenger side tail light n lights come on and car starts...

You obviously have a loose connection somewhere and judging by the rear fender incident it is likely inside the trunk. Make sure all connection in the battery area are clean and good and tight. Then check the terminals under the hood on the passenger side. Rock the car gently with a volt meter on the terminals and look for voltage cutout. Check the front for clean and tight connections.

Thanks, will try this tomorrow n see if their are any loose connections.

Check the neg. battery terminal cable where it connects to the trunk floor. Make sure its clean and tight.

Sound like a loose ground wire.

Sounds like an ingenious anti-theft mechanism. Leave it like that. :) :)

The fuel pump inertia switch is also usually located in that area too, which is a magnetized switch that cuts off the fuel pump if it believes the car is upside down, or in Australia. The switch can sometimes be reset by hitting the area it is located in or by a strong magnet.

Just because the battery cables look tight doesn't mean they are conducting electricity. You likely have corrosion between the battery and the cable. Disconnect and clean. I'll bet your problem goes away---------------at least it's worth a try.

I finally figured it out...lol..
The problem was the very small tabs on the battery cable clamp.
I tightened the tapered nut on battery cable clamp and problem still existed.
I was fooled into thinking it was properly tightened because I couldn't swivel it side to side because housing for cable assembly and other wires are also bolted down to chassis.
Finally took all apart and bent in those eight inch lil tabs....Life is good now...
