  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello,
I own a 2009 Genesis, yesterday my car was working fine and then all of a sudden it wouldn’t start. At first I thought it was my battery but after trying to jump start nothing happened, the dash would light up like 3-5 secs after pushing the start button but the engine wouldn’t turn. Today when I went outside to try it again it cranked right up, so I don’t know if it was the battery, alternator, starter, or if it’s an electrical issue.

Can't say for sure, but I'd start with cleaning the battery terminals. If the are not making good contact putting a jumper is no good either. Next would be to check the ground cable.

Replace your KeyFOB battery. It's cheap. just put it in the right way.

Does not sound like the key fob, as the dash board lit up. If you try to start without the fob, i.e. no signal, you get a "Key not in vehicle" message.

As always, hard to test an intermittent problem.

Replace the car battery.

Just did this last weekend. Had to actually open the owners manual to see where the remote battery connection was located in the engine bay. Used it with my optima battery charger to keep power to the circuit.
