  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all. Something interesting happened yesterday. I'm in St. Louis, and yesterday was a pretty cold day. I got in my car (2009 3.8 tech plus), started it up and drove about ten minutes to the grocery store.
I was in the store maybe 20 minutes; I came out, put the groceries in the trunk, and got in the car. I pushed the start button, and NOTHING happened...the car was dead...(I think maybe the steering wheel unlocked)...thinking the fob might be dead (even though I put new batteries in both in September), I put the fob in the holder and pushed the start button...nothing (this MIGHT be when the steering wheel unlocked).

So, I took the fob out of the holder and locked and unlocked the door using it (just to check the battery); I pushed the start button again...and the car fired right up. I haven't had any issues today so far...has anyone seen the not starting thing though?

Welcome to the club.

I've had something similar happen to me twice in the 3 years I've owned my Genny.

Car wouldn't start. Walked away. Came back a few minutes later. It fired right up. Couldn't be duplicated at the dealer. No codes in the sytem. No ideas why it happened. Short of putting a monitor on the CAN that records every "tron" scootin' around the network, all the time, every day...we'll probablly never find out why this happens.

I think the software was developed by Microsoft

Not sure how legit this is. I saw it on another forum.

"Bad brake switch. They told me before we got it off the tow. Seems recently they've had three coupes, a Sonata and another car. Ruined the start of my day, but all's better now. (By the way, it made no sound; just turned dash lights on and back off. He said if you really stomp the brake sometimes that will get it to work. They replaced the switch with a new type.)"

If it happens again, I will have it towed to a dealership and see if they know anything about it...
