  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My Genesis will monitor CO2 levels in the cabin. If considered too high, the system will allow more fresh air into the cabin.
For this system to be operating, a car icon containing the letters CO2 will appear on the NAV screen. I cannot get that to appear. Should it be on by default? The manual is very confusing. I drive with auto climate control on so the A/C is on and the temperature is controlled. I also have the Smart ventilation control set to on. According to the book, if the auto is off and smart on, then the icon will appear, but isn't it best to have the system controlled automatically. I am totally confused about this.
Can anyone clarify this situation. There is a method to switch CO2 monitoring on and off by holding the mode button and pressing the recirculation 4 times in 2 seconds, but I cannot get that to work.

I've never seen an icon, I use auto mode all the time and have smart ventilation turned on. I have noticed that when I run with air recirculate on, it will periodically turn off and then back on again later. I assumed this was the CO2 monitor in action.

I have had mine come on before. The system only re-circulates the air when the CO2 level gets too high, and if I recall correctly I did see something briefly pop-up on my Navigation.

+1...mine surprised me one day with some text indicating it was active. I thought it was all automatic and did it's thing by itself?

Was your system set on AUTO climate control at the time?

I had a reply from Hyundai UK (very helpful people):

I have checked with our technical team so that I can get clarification for you on this matter. They have advised the icon to show that the system is working will only be shown when the system has detected high levels of CO2 in the cabin, above 2500ppm, and has activated to alter the climate system settings by changing fresh air/re-circulated air intake settings to bring this figure down. And this system will only work when the climate is set to have Smart Ventilation switched ON via the climate control settings menu, however as long as that is switched ON then it should be running in the background at all times regardless of what the climate settings are set to.
