  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Guys,

My car came with the dealer added option of "Carr Security System". Does any of you have this option on your car? The dealer has this activated on my car. He said that if anyone were to break into the car without the key, the system will be deactivated and you cannot start the car then. He attached the security key with my both the keyfobs. I see a red light glowing on the dash when the car is locked meaning the car is being protected.

I am wondering if this is a GPS tracking device?

Sorry for too many questions :(

Where do you live?

Normally, the red flashing light on the top of the dash is for the factory security system, unless you are talking about some other red light.

Did you finance or lease your car through the Hyundai dealer? Then it might be a tracking system, or maybe your car was a demo that had it installed for obvious reasons.

Many aftermarket alarm systems have an ignition immobilizer (prevents starting the car if the alarm goes off), but it it's dealer installed it probably includes a GPS tracker to make it easier to repossess.

Did you possibly mean Karr instead of Carr? If so, it looks like they specialize in selling these systems to dealers. Here's some more information on Karr: http://www.karrsecurity.com/karr.html

I was told that it is engine immobilizer if someone were to break into my car. The stock alarm system just beeps but does not immobilize, not sure if this is correct though. Not sure why would they install the tracker as the car is not leased nor financed through them, plus I did not pay for this.
