Looks like some people had problems getting the title to their car bought from Carvana. They could not register them and drive them legally. Judging from a thread here of waiting for titles from Gensis it may be a problem for any used car dealer on a fast sale from payoff.

Now, Better Call Behnken has learned state regulators have reached a settlement agreement with Carvana over similar complaints, dating back to February 2020.

Can't imagine needing a lawyer to correct what may be a mistake. Certainly not good for their reputation.

I'm told Carvan's computer system requires a loan payoff to process the lien release. Since there in no underlying loan, Carvana has no mechanism to remove a false lien.

similar issue.. Wife financed with carvana to make it quick , then refinanced with USAA at a much lower apr...USAA paid off carvana immediately.. Needless to say , months later , my wife is still getting messages from USAA asking where the title may be and if it was accidentally mailed to her.. They seem to have title issues at carvana.. Had another incident where i went to pick up a car at a carvana location, and they told me the cars title was stolen and that theyd pay for my rental car while i decided on a different car.

I also use USAA for my car purchases due to the easy no hassle way the bank works. I was thinking about buying a car from Carvana, but now I will just stick with a well known brand dealership that sell used cars since they usually handle paper work in a timely manner. Smaller or less established dealerships seem to not be the best at getting paper work done properly(loan payoffs,title transfers,etc) from my experience over the years buying cars.

i will say this , when looking for a car thats not on dealer lots like a 2014 r spec 5.0 , carvana was the only way to go.. mostly hassle free thus far, and i wasnt interested in other cars., Had a 2018 maxima before the genesis , absolute garbage.. Good looking car but everything else was non functional by 30k miles.. So carvana does filla need for sure.

Carvana was threatened with loss of license in Florida. They have until Jan 31 to resolve the cases. Looks like over 199 in Florida and 300 nationwide.

Carvana seems to have taken steps to mitigate the issues. My car was delivered 11-27, then there is the 7 Day return window where they dont process title in case of returns. My Trade In was paid off 12-10 so my Lien was cleared. Just today, on 12-20, I got a text that my Tags are on the way.

Ironic as the car originally came from Florida, and was purchased in Texas. The two states with the most reported problems.

Now, the only thing I am not sure of is the Title. But, that process is tied to the Tags in this state, so, I am not concerned.

Update, got my plates and registration today in mail. Exactly one month after car was delivered and my old car was picked up.

They have turned over the registration processing to a third party. Worked out fine for me.
