  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Today something happened for the first time. I was rolling up on a line of stopped cars at a red light. My display was selected as instant MPG. Suddenly the display changed to what looked like the cruise control, detected a car in front of me (displayed graphic) and flashed the word "Caution". Then it went away. Can't find any reference to this in the owners manual. Any ideas?

It happened to me once last year - haven't seen it since.

i get it mostly when the guy in front of me is turning and i am closing in on them quickly.
its when i see no need to slow down since they will be finished with the turn before i reach them.
its like the car thinks the car in front of me is not turning and i am approaching a stationary object quickly.

when i have seen it is without the cruise control.
with the cruise control, the car slows automatically.

It is a warning system to give you a warning that you are too close to the car in front of you and could result in a collison. Has absolutely nothing to do with cruise control.

bmbutler I am not a Genesis owner (yet) so I don't have a manual to review. Could you tell me if that is just a visual signal on the dash or is there also an audible tone that goes along with it. Sounds like a neat safety feature and it is good to know you don't need Cruise on to make it function.

Hyundai was going to hook up a klaxton horn (the very loud sound subs make when they dive) to the warning lamp but decided (a) lawyers thought there might be too many heart attacks and (b) they'd go broke replacing the seat covers.

Inside the car or outside the car? I prefer other people hearing those things! :D :D

I had an experience this morning with the caution light coming on in my car. There was nothing in front of me but the driver behind me was tailing me. It went out and did not come back on.
