Does anybody have a DIY or some tips on removing the center console? I'm determined to fix these annoying creaks/rattles that have been getting louder and louder in the past few months.

Most people don't realize this but a major source of the creeks and rattles you are probably hearing could be the driver side seat belt. If you are driving around and hear the creeks without your arm on the center stack, wiggle the place where the seat belt clips in. A little WD-40 fixes that issue, no problem.

That's what I read about in many threads - I plan to lubricate that point as well but I'm hearing quite a bit of noise from the center console lids when my arm is resting on there. Drives me nuts.

Get some felt, or peel-off felt pads, in the hardware section.
 
I hunted down an FSM and looked up how to remove the console... looks pretty easy. I bought a roll of felt tape and a bunch of rubber cabinet bumpers, plus I have some leftover dynamat. I'll try and take some pics as I go through it.

Please do, as I want to do this too since I hate the squeaking as well!
 
The thing is that these cars are so quiet on a good road you will notice even a very small squeak or rattle.
 
Did you ever post the pics on console removal?
I need to do it and do not have access to a manual.

Have to take radio bezel off, pull off shifter knob (takes a bunch of force, my hand hit the headliner when it came off!!), remove trim around shifter, 4 bolts under a cover inside console, some bolts/screws underneath shifter trim, and a few connectors. Going from memory here but think that's it.

Sorry for the thread necro, but I need to get my center console out. I spilled some trail mix into the gap between the back of the open console door and the console body. Pretty sure that's what's gumming up the door as I try to open/close it. I also want to mount a wireless phone charger somewhere under there.

Anyway, I tried pulling the disc player bezel, but could not for the life of me manage to get it off. I used a plastic pry tool at the four locations visible in the photo above but got no movement at all. :mad:

So I tried pulling up on the gearshift knob (in Park position) but got nowhere with that either. I was really pulling hard - nothing budged.

So I'm kind of stuck here. Is there some trick to this? Obviously I don't want to break anything, but do I need to apply Ridiculous Force? Atomic suction cups? :confused:

Took a bit more force than I would have liked to get the radio bezel off. And yes removing the shift knob was very difficult the first time. Thought I was going to rip my shoulder out of socket getting that thing off.

Good to know, and thanks for posting. I'm really worried about cracking the bezel, so I'll just keep looking for the appropriate pry tool.

I'm thinking of fashioning something like a slide hammer for the shift knob.

Having been in the car audio and auto repair industries for quite some time, you'd be surprised how many people I've seen smash themselves in the face removing shift knobs(and steering wheels). It's kind of funny...when it's not you.

At what "point" are you stuck"? Can most likely guide you through the rest.

I've been curious to remove mine - but I want to install a 12-volt outlet accessible to back seat passengers. I want to install this under the vents in the console back. On the inside, do you think there is enough room for the socket? I am thinking of splitting the feed going to the console storage. I already have my dash camera plugged into this. Need one more and don't want the one by the front ash tray to be open.

How deep is the socket? There is an electrical piece that is towards the back and sits below where the vents are that could possible be in the way. Picture for reference

 
Those images are the ones you will find in the FSM. And you are right I left out some steps. Thanks for the link.
