  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Center Console Squeaking?

You guys sure it's the center console? My seatbelt assembly is the culprit in my car... all I do is, every three or four months, I put a little extra leather cleaner between the seat and the seatbelt clip, and I'm good to go.

same thing for me. i traced it to the seatbelt.

I have the 2012 5.0 (not R-Spec). I have a squeak, but it is the leather on the seat rubbing (squeaking) against the console. I've tried leather protectant (Meguiars) on the seat and vinyl protectant on the side of the console without success.

This!

My car has this. I used to work at Ford Motor Company on vehicle press launch programs. It was a major issue as we could not have ANY noises. In the end, Ford ultimately put cloth side on all of their leather seats. This is a production solution now and has been for years. Seems Hyundai hasn't figured this out yet. So, my plan (whenever I get time) is to put some fussy velcro on the console facing the seat. It will solve the issue.

Keep in mind that this issue only really appears if you are fat (like me) because you then flex the seat enough with your a*s to create the contact point. So the Korean engineers probably never noticed it. Not many fat Koreans....

Hope this helps.

No mice anywhere in my R-Spec

Put a nice wide strip of soft fussy velcro on my console today between the drivers seat and the side of the console. Any noises that was in the console is now gone. The rubbing of the seat and squeak is cured.

Thanks FastDEW1. Yes, I am a big guy and my weight pushes the seat leather against the side of the console. I currently use a plastic sheet protector (8.5x11) to kill the noise. I don't know why it works, but the squeak is gone. I am hoping someone knows of a treatment for either the leather or console vinyl to stop the noise. But in the interim the plastic sheet works or I may try FastDEW1's solution.

Silicone spray lube may work as well.
