  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Change OE tires?

I have the Michelin AS + Sports on my Mercedes SL 500 and do not find them quiet, especially over concrete roads.

I will be replacing my wife's Dunlops and am really torn over what to buy. I personally have never found the Tire Track reviews on noise too accurate

The Bridgestone Turanza Serenity is what I have. The 4th set of this tire on various vehicles and it is quiet and great in wet weather. I had a set of the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S plus and they were horrible. Here is the link to the thread.

Read your link. My Michelin's also pulled to the right. My MB dealer had to put a camber kit on. I think that is what it is called.

If you do a google search on the Michelin pulling to the right, there are many hits with others (various brand of cars) that had the same probelm with the Michelin. Its all over the Lexus and Mercedes forums. Also chrysler.

Sorry. I guess I mispoke. I believe the dealer installed Michelin Pilot Sports on my car. Bought the car used with 21,000 miles and got rid of the Dunlops. Much improved ride and handling with the Michelins. I also had Blizzaks installed for winter driving here...if we ever get snow! I've only owned my Genesis for a short time but am already quite enamored with it.

Just rolled over 20K miles on the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S plus and they are outstanding. No pulling, noise on concrete is minimal over OEM - remember old concrete is noisy on any tire, all road conditions - but snow and ice with the 4.6 is "interesting" with all the power, so smart money goes 4WD here in Seattle on all our hills when its slick. Bottom line single data point....they are a fine tire for the Northwest driving conditions from my knot hole. Oh and tire wear - still showing two thirds left to go from the Hyundai mechanic's look last week.

Blizzaks are the way to go in the winter. The OEM Dunlops were worthless in light snow and with my wife driving the grandkids, that would not work! I got some new rims for the Dunlops and put the snows on the OEM rims (never cared too much for them anyway). This winter when I did the changeover, I noticed that the Dunlops are pretty much gone! I only had about 20,000 miles on them so I'm very disappointed all around with them. After reading Tire Rack reports, I think I'm going to go with the Continental DWS in the spring!
