If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I know the Fog Lamp Bulb is an "H8"...but has anybody attempted to change this bulb?....If so, how?

Thanks

There are several threads and many posts on this subject. Be very careful when replacing the fog lamb bulb, because the reflector housing is made of a very flimsy material that will melt if the bulb gets too hot.

Thanks for your help....I was advised to make sure the bulb is 35w...this way the wiring harness and the reflector housing doesn't melt...

Thanks
Rob

Problem is that the wattage refers to how many watts are used by the bulb, and not necessarily how much heat is generated. There is usually a relationship between the amount of heat and the wattage (given same kind of bulb technology), but not always.

The other problem is that for LED and florescent bulbs they sometimes quote the wattage compared to the equivalent incandescent bulb in terms of light output (measured in lumens), and not the actual wattage that the LED or fluorescent bulb draws in the electrical circuit.

Turn wheel to opposite side of the fog lamp you want to change. Remove 5 screw in clips, three on bottom and two in fender well. Pull it down and back. Un-clip harness from bulb, remove. Install bulb and reverse order.

Yes and there is a small flap in front of front wheel look and pull down and the light is in there.

I know that this is an old thread, but still relevant.

I had to replace my driver's side fog light yesterday. It wasn't bad at all. My fear was I would have to do it "under the car". In addition to the 3 screws under the bumper, make sure that you remove the screw in the wheel well. turn the wheel to the right to give yourself some room. By doing this, I was able to make the change from the wheel well instead of working in the tight space underneath.

the whole job took less than 20 minutes.

I replaced my foglights with LED bulbs, it is actually pretty accessible compared to other vehicles I've worked on before.

And I can confirm the cheap thin material they are using for the foglight housing that's why I went with LED lights more output, less temperature compared to regular halogen lights.
I attached a pic as a comparison with the stock halogen lights.
And with both sides installed

do you remember what bulb they take? I'm needing to replace both of mine as well. Even better if you have the link for the LED ones you got
The bulbs use the H8 socket.
The Led Bulbs I used are Catinbow LED's , you can buy them almost everywhere( Ebay , Amazon).
I used the same bulbs for more than 1 year in my old GS300 for the foglights and driving lights, and had no issues whatsoever!

What type of bulb and wattage so I know it won't melt anything?

with LED's you wont have to worry about melting anything as they dont get near as hot as standard bulbs.

I just installed these lights from Amazon.

Like the other member said, if you use LED's you don't have to worry about Wattage, since there is little to no heat, that could damage the reflector.
