  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Changing transmission fluid

Still brand new...nice.
She's very nice!! Just want to do all preventative stuff. Figured after 10 years rear differential fluid change and a tranny drain and fill would help.

Im going to do a drain and fill but not with the hyundai stuff. Was thinking about using

Valvoline MaxLife Automatic Transmission Fluid

Has anyone drain and filled with this before? Does it mix well with the stock fluid inside transmission?

Thanks

Used Valvoline Max Life when mine was flushed 60k miles ago. I plan to use it for my scheduled multiple drain & fill.

I just did fluids on my '12 at 102 000. Trans, diff, coolant (plus plugs, belt, and alignment). Dealer's shop lead didn't want to drop the pan, so they did a drain and fill. Trans shifts better now.

Interesting that they did a drain/fill; assuming 1 drain and fill only? The Hyundai dealership near me now want over $500 to do the job and the Kia near me quoted $200. The Kia did mention that they do a "Flush" but will get more information or just suck it up and do it myself lol.

How much was your tally as it sounds like you go tit it all done at a Dealership?

Shahhere

USD$1300 for everything including a brake fluid change and bleed I forgot to mention. I dont have the breakout in front of me. I didn't want to chance the plugs because I don't have the tools to deal with an "oh sh!t." Local alignment shops don't have the spanner for the rears, and the rest became a "whe you're at it" situation. I did the engine oil and air/cabin filters myself. The actual tech labor was about 8-1/2 hours on the ship ticket for everything vs. 11ish book hrs.
