  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ok ok i know there are many threads about this topic but wait a min!!! I did a great job, took from me just about 1 hour with great results, well thats for sure genny is a very relaxing and quit car to drive infact quitest car i have ever own and driven. After doing alot of researches about sound deadening im realy got too much interested about that subject! So i thought i can make a great thing even better, Here is an easy way:
U need 1- screw driver 2- greatstuff expanding foam 3- a new set of thick floor matts 4- a thick carpet

How to do?
Remove the covers of front wheel wells, (its too easy) after removing you will see lots of spaces under that cover (sound eco can accumulate in these spaces) cut the thick carpet and fill big holes with it and then use expanding foam to fill all other spaces ( be careful to avoid some holes which are created to transmit water ) then put the well cover back in place, do same for other side. Next step is to add another set of floor matts on your existing (genesis matts) put for driver side too its not interfering with accelerator pedal at all, cut a part from thick carpet for raer transmission tunnel.

After finishing my work and waiting for couple of hours for the foam to dry totaly, i took genny to a ride...

Results: its not going to make you WOW, but you can feel a real difference, especially i can feel road noise decreased and its noticeable but not dramatic.. And today after getting bridgestones i felt even more reduction in noise,
Very easy work if you are interested to make sound deadening !

I foresee the carpet growing mold. Recommend using a closed-cell foam for noise abatement.

I think tires play the biggest role in a quiet cabin. If it's not wind noise it has to be noise emanating from the tires rolling on the ground.

+1 on tire noise.

Now that I've got 16,000 miles on mine, they are DEFINITELY louder than when they were new. And it is very noticeable in the cabin.

Thanks for posting, though... I've been considering sound deadening materials also... but I'd probably stick to the interior of the car (floor, doors, etc)

+1 on tire noise, I remember it being a lot quieter either that I'm just getting used to it. I did come from a 98 camry with coilovers so that could explain why.

I wonder if any did some dynamat like stuff in the trunk or doors to see how much a difference that would make.

Let me get this straight. The OP stuffed carpet behind the wheel well under the car? How does it stay dry?

It will stat dry because you will cover it back with well cover!

Amazing!!!! -- Better than Joe Cook's DIY Manual..

I once saw a guy trying to Track/Align his front wheels = he was hanging a piece of string down from the fender & spinning the wheel to see if it was parallel
as the wheel was spinning.........OMG...........

Hi Cobra,
you are definitely well intentioned, but, so dangerous when let out alone ;)

So, your wheel well covers are water-tight and air-tight? Are your wheel wells pressurized too?

Go get and make some money, its better to make yourself busy with poisonous snakes like cobra, they can bite and its fatal.

What does this even mean?

I am with the others.. I think you are inviting problems by doing this.

Mold, rust, etc. Carpet is not a good idea...at all. Neither is blocking openings from water to drain through.

Im agree with you, just expanding foam is enough.

That carpet will block even more noise when it's frozen. Of course, it will make some noise too.

You guys understand the carpet idea in wrong way, the carpet is just to fill big holes and after using expanding foam whole carpet pieces will be covered with foam so it will not contact with water, its ok to not use it just use expanding foam to fill spaces its more than enough to make some noticeable change.
