  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

got in the car after a quick trip to the mall.

Car starts Navi works. no sound (voice directions does not play)

XM reports check Antenna
AM no sound (search channels finds none)
Will NOT select FM.
Attached Ipod reports it is playing but no sound
Voice command button reports SDS is starting in background try again later

I assume since ipod sound is not working that this isnt an antenna problem.

Checked the shark fin, nothing has touched it so I assume the antenna is fine.

2009 Tech package,,, any ideas? (short of a dealer visit next week)

I had the very same problem this morning. I got back in the car a couple of hours later and check antenna message was gone and radio was working fine. I went to the manual and it said check antenna could mean a connection problem. As the radio is working I am not going to worry over it. I will check with the dealer later but 9 times out of 10 they will be just as puzzled as I am.

I have exsperienced the poor engine start once were the enging will shake,
check engine light comes on and the car runs like it has a bad spark plug.
The dealer could not duplicate the problem and no failure code showed up in the system. I have not had the problem since.

Today no radio check antenna 2 hours later check antenna message is gone
and radio working fine.

I have also had the tilt limit switch issue. After the repair I turned the tilt and easy exit feature off and have not had a problem with the tilt steering since.

Also having problems with getting the map update. I have the 03.00.00 version and was told that the latest version is 03.07.06.

It seems that allot of owners are exsperiencing some of the same problems
and Hyundai should take note.

All cars have their problems. I still enjoy my car but I do hope that Hyundai
will get a handle on some of the issues.

I was very odd... it clearly behaved like a software memory error, but restarting the car didn't clear the problem, it had to sit for a bit...
I need to tear it apart some day but not today.

No sound

I had it happen once. I pulled off the side of the road and shut down. When I restarted, it was OK.

After 3 months the radio failed again. The check antenna message was displayed. After restarting car the radio came back on.

there is clearly a connection or wire signal issue as the "check antenna" error is reported on ALL audio inputs including ipod...

I didn't post this but...

This has happened twice... The second time I noticed I had shutdown with the signal source being my ipod (nano)... I vaguely remember I was on the same source the first time it happened. So, I have gotten in the habit of hitting xm or fm button prior to shutting the car off..

It hasn't happened again, but will only 2 failures over a couple of months I don't know if it really was a fix.

This is the third time that I have lost all audio and check antenna message was displayed. Once again after the car was turned off for awhile audio returned and check antenna message was no longer displayed. I am going to check with the dealer this week but I saw on the Genesis Coupe forum that the problem was in the shark finn antenna and the repair involved removing the head liner and replacing the shark finn antenna. I am not to much into seeing the head liner removed. This is not a problem that I could not live with for now and would only be a real problem when audio fails and does not return.

Very good observation by wallymn.

I have experienced this issue twice in the last year and second happened just a few days ago.
I can definitely say that in both cases problem started right after I listened to CD (which I do really rare - most of the time it is XM radio) and then I parked the car and shut engine off. After I came back to the car and started engine - there was no sound from the speakers and bogus "check antenna" message was presented if I tried to choose XM/AM radio.
It takes somewhere between an hour and more before sound comes back. When this happens, I assume that many of us "panicking" and start pressing buttons (turn radio unit off/on, changing between XM, AM, CD, etc) and thus - may ending up by finally switching from the source that this sound system seems like having problem with (in my case it is CD, in case of wallymn - USB iPod) to what it seems like "prefers" - XM or AM.
So, at this point and based on my experience, I would speculate that this could be as well as software related issue or a combination of electronics events (which still in my opinion is controlled by software).
Hope this helps and someone from Huyndai may be very well reading forums and our inputs may help to get rid of this error.

Multiple threads on this (though the antenna message is a new wrinkle).

Look at "no sound out of speakers" thread...and any thread reporting problems with head unit.

Issue happened again today.

As before no sound from any source.

XM reports Check Antenna

FM has not sound AM cannot be selected.

No iPOD attached

DVD will select menu but not play

CD will select but not play a track.

Started the car to go to lunch, all was fine. Starting the car after lunch (45 minutes parked outside in 32 degree weather), nothing worked.

This is happening about once a year,

Last time dealer told me unless the issue could be seen during service it isn't an issue.
