  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So on my way to a Docs appointment, and about 40 minutes into the ride I notice my check engine light comes on. I immediately started to panic and told my wife to look over at it:eek:. Then I started to think if I had tighten the gas cap when I filled up 2 weeks ago. So after I got out of my appointment, I took my Genny to the dealership which was about 3 miles up the road. The technician said she'll take a look at it and ask me did I just fill up (I knew where she was getting at) so I told her a couple weeks ago. So after waiting about an hour in the dealership she came out and told me that there was a recall on the cars computer and that's what cause the check engine light to come on. So that was a "HUGE" relief:), an I wonder if she meant TSB because I can't recall any recalls on the Genny.

I have had the same problem three times with my 2009 4.6 Genny and was asked the same questions as you about the the last gas fill up and to check to see it the gas cap was properly secured. I have a OBDII scanner and hooked it up and it gave me the trouble code for evaporative control emissions (small leak detected), so I cleared the code and moved on. There is now apparently a "campeign" from Hyundai to fix the glitch in the ECM that causes this erroneous fault. I don't know the difference between a campeign vs. TSB, but I will try to have the work done at the next service appointment. This campaign has to do with an evaporative emissions control/ ECU issue, where a small leak is detected in the fuel system and trips the "check engine" light in the instrument panel. This has to do with pollution control IMO. I looked up that campaign number on Hyundai service and here's what it shows:
