  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all I’m new here. Just purchased a 2015 3.8 AWD. I’ve had it about 3 weeks and I’m constantly being annoyed by the PSB chime and warning. Is there a fix for it? Is there a way to completely disable it? I need help. It’s driving me crazy.
Thank you in advance

Do you put anything on the passenger seat? A little weight will trigger it.

Yeah... Sometimes my lunch bag will trigger it. I just fastened the seat belt...

This pops up on the dash with an empty seat.

You may need your fuel control module replaced. I was getting the same warning popping up randomly (along with throttle response issues / outside temperature display disappearing). Apparently it's connected to quite a few things. It's a fairly cheap part online (~$50), though mine was covered under warranty and dealer had it replaced same day.

If you have an OBD2 reader, checking for error codes may help diagnose further:

In case anyone is wondering the PSB system retracts the seat belts just prior (or at) impact and just before the airbags deploy. Why is there an interface with the fuel control module? At impact, the PSB tells the fuel control module to shut down the fuel pump to help reduce the chance of a fire from leaking fuel.

I got the same issue on my 2017 Genesis G80. 3.8 AWD. I had it for 3 weeks with no issues. The one day i tried to put my seat belt on and i taught it clicked and lock but it didn't so the belt retracted really fast and hard and all of a sudden got the PSB warning light. So is this a seatbelt issue or a fuel module issue???

The "PSB" in "PSB light Genesis" likely refers to a Pre-Safety Belt indicator or warning light in a Genesis vehicle. This light, often represented by a "!" inside a triangle, indicates a potential malfunction in various safety systems, including the pre-active seat belt, low washer fluid, electronic control suspension, or advanced smart cruise control. If the light comes on, it's recommended to check the specific system indicated and potentially consult an authorized Genesis service location.

I have resolved the issue of persistent PSB chime and popup by replacing the original, 33040-B1000 module. It is behind the fuel filler door, accessible by moving the left trunk liner. This module is ten (10) years old. The output signal is dependent upon a 35v 1000uf electrolytic capacitor. This type of capacitor usually has an 8-year lifespan, but it also depends on the active time of the electrolyte. The maximum voltage rating on the cap will determine its physical dimensions, so the higher voltage value should have little effect on its performance. Most of these caps have a 20% variance, so measure the value of the microfarads (uf) before installing the new cap, and use one that measures closest to the 1000 uf target. The replacement capacitor should cost less than five US dollars ($5 USD). The module is assembled with only four #1 Philips head screws.
The upgraded replacement module part number is 33041-D2000, but it will cost over $100. Since my family pretends to be dependent upon our Hyundais, I have installed the complete board in their daily drivers.
